Breaking Up With New York: October 2010
http://breakingupwithnewyork.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Sunday, October 17, 2010. Coming In From The Cold. Innocent of the privations of city life. I just found my way to my friend. Jen Block's blog,. Pushedbirth.com is the sister site for. The book, and was created to provide women with uncensored, unsweetened information about U.S. childbirth care. (I). From the terrors that afflicted me as a child and then, later, as an adult? This week, I got the good news that one of my...

Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Sunday, September 19, 2010. Goodbye New York, I've Changed My Name. Two big moments happened in the life of the Exile this week: I changed my name officially and I registered to vote in Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania! But that is apparently what falling in love costs these days: Lots and lots of paperwork, lots and lots of hours filling out forms. I want to be officially Mrs. FF, old fashioned girl that I am. And then ap...
Breaking Up With New York: Adapt or Die

Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Saturday, May 2, 2015. The garden is a savage place. Here in the Piedmont it's spring. But such a strange spring it is that even in mid-April we were running outside at dusk, arms laden with any sheets not covering mattresses to shield the tender plants against the freeze. In times of global warming, my daily battle in the garden is how I, middle-aged now, face my fear of the future. What would I do? Breaking Up With Ne...

Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Breaking up is (so strangely) hard to do. Our break up is now official, New York. The closing of my Harlem apartment happened this week. Without me. Because I had already evaporated, New York. Sorry, I simply could not. Make it. And as you are well aware, the fact that I was not physically present at our final date was most definitely your fault. So, so typical of you, New York. But for now, I ...

Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. The Sirens of New York. New York, you sly devil! I hear your siren song. I make only short-term commitments to New York these days, and New York is supposed to understand that. Odysseys and the Sirens by Herbert James Draper. That's New York for you. Heady. The Ego perks up at the attention. Chatting with Thalia that day in her fabulous deco penthouse surrounded by works by major ar...Truly, yo...

Breaking Up With New York
Breaking Up With New York. Saying Good-bye to the Biggest, Baddest City in the World. Monday, January 2, 2017. A walk ends, a journey begins. By now, Dog and I know most of the forest paths around here. Early Saturday morning, we decided to walk the distance down the hill, past the old mill, under the train trestle, and down to where the river cuts a gash through the forest, and a friendly path wends its way across wooden bridges and all the way to downtown to where the farmers' market is on weekends.
