Word + Craft: May 2009

http://wordandcraft.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

A little writing, a little knitting, then probably a little more writing again. Or maybe it's the other way around. Friday, May 22, 2009. Rating: 5 of 5 stars. Was an encouraging and inspiring read. View all my reviews. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Meltdown on Aisle Three. I was out shopping today when I remembered I needed to pick up some thank you cards. As I was trying to decide between notes with too-cutesy pink daisies or sickeningly adorable kittens, the Father's Day cards caught my eye. What if they can...

Life in a Northern Town: Preparing for Class

http://steinerdonna.blogspot.com/2011/01/preparing-for-class.html

Life in a Northern Town. Sunday, January 30, 2011. I’m getting a kind of lesson plan together, something with poetry, aiming to be insightful and sensitive. Life in a Northern Town: 33-29

http://steinerdonna.blogspot.com/2011/06/33-29.html

Life in a Northern Town. Saturday, June 25, 2011. It’s the morning after the New York State Senate passed what is widely referred to as the “gay marriage bill.”. I thought of Tyler Clementi, the.

Life in a Northern Town. Monday, December 20, 2010. High points of 2010, in no real order:. Saw my family in TX, saw my friends in AZ. Lots of sunshine – great way to start the year. Several close friends survived, and thrived, after serious illnesses. What could be better? I learned that Susan Rogers’ book would be published. Landed the tenure-track position at SUNY Oswego. Giant sigh of relief, still exhaling.). Below, I wouldn’t have expected to like it so much. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

Brevity and Truth

A journal about my thoughts, observations and perspectives. I will commit, to the best of my ability, that two things will always be found here: brevity and truth. Circumcision: to cut or not to cut? I enjoyed this article. On current debate around circumcision. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it ‘barbaric and stupid’ as actor Russell Crowe did. I am sympathetic to the concern that the child doesn’t have a voice in this very intimate decision. I’ve never minded it or even given it much thought. This site...
