Of Agony and Ecstasy: The Christmas Tree
http://aubrey06.blogspot.com/2014/11/the-christmas-tree.html
Of Agony and Ecstasy. November 30, 2014. There was the year we moved the day after Christmas and my parents opted not to get a tree. My brother and I were so disappointed that my Dad made a tree out of paper and taped it to our wall. We made paper ornaments to go along with it and it was as good as the real thing, if not better. Of Agony and Ecstasy: March 2015
http://aubrey06.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Of Agony and Ecstasy. March 4, 2015. You know how you go through periods in your life where the road is just a bit bumpy? It’s not any one thing in particular, in fact sometimes the road is smooth sailing, but overall, when everything adds up the ride was just a bit rough. That’s where we’ve been in our family. For once I was grateful for a leaky, inefficient home and following a prompting that we needed to get our heater serviced. In March. I wrap this up while watching freezing rain bounce off the side...

The Experimental Homemaker: Toddler-induced Insanity (AKA Homemade Watercolors)
http://tinarjacobson.blogspot.com/2015/07/toddler-induced-insanity-aka-homemade.html
Adventures of an untutored stay-at-home-mom. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Toddler-induced Insanity (AKA Homemade Watercolors). She doesn’t get to play in the flour that often, but she asks. Sometimes she asks for the messy game with the colors:. Baking soda and colored vinegar=many minutes of fun, which is basically hours in toddler land. What was I saying? The purple, besides being more in the range of charcoal-brown, had more completed colors to spill into, and so took the opportunity to taint all of them...

Of Agony and Ecstasy: January 2015
http://aubrey06.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Of Agony and Ecstasy. January 29, 2015. A Letter to My Lillian. Of course, it is easy to love the sweet part of you. The part that wants me to read books to you and make up songs for me. That part is always easy to love, but I want you to know that what makes you so special, what makes me feel like a piece of my heart is walking around in this huge world, is the not-so-sweet part. Elsa came to your birthday party! You have wanted a play date with Elsa since. That I love you only the way a Mother can.

Of Agony and Ecstasy. July 31, 2014. Lately, my kid have been asking if they can go to Toys R Us and get some toys. I have no idea where they get this idea. They also ask for toys every time we go to the store. They also think we should go out for ice cream, or sno-cones, or Chik-fil-a or something, pretty much every day. So, here's what I did:. Lesson #1: What is money? I read a couple of books to them, my favorite was All About Money. Lesson #2: Where does money come from? I explained how Mommy and Dad...

Of Agony and Ecstasy: With One Haircut...
http://aubrey06.blogspot.com/2014/10/with-one-haircut.html
Of Agony and Ecstasy. October 9, 2014. My baby became a toddler! Seriously, this kid is running full-steam ahead and trying his best to keep up with his older siblings. He gets into EVERYTHING. Colors on floors, doors, walls - pretty much anything he can reach. He's not saying much - but has a few words he's working on like "apple" and "bird." However, his favorite words are "uh-oh" and "wow." Actually, I should take that back - he is saying a LOT, you just can't understand but a few words. Samuel (after...

Small Town Couple: Letter Home - November 2, 2012
http://smalltowncouple.blogspot.com/2012/11/letter-home-november-2-2012.html
You know the old saying, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl . . . we're just two small-town people who found each other, married, and are doing our best to raise four happy kids in the suburbs. Friday, November 2, 2012. Letter Home - November 2, 2012. Dear Mom and Dad,. Mom, we were so pleased to hear that all went well with your cataract surgery! I’m getting excited for my trip home. I am also feeling some anxiety for David while I’m gone. I then spe...

Mes Belles Lettres: Tell Me on a Sunday: Letting Go of the Upper Hand
http://rennythefrenchie.blogspot.com/2015/01/tell-me-on-sunday-letting-go-of-upper.html
Tell Me on a Sunday: Letting Go of the Upper Hand. Human nature is a funny thing isn't it? I have noticed in relationships that I lean towards the side of carefully guarding everything about myself in order to avoid seeming vulnerable in any way. I am certain that I am not the only one who does this. Although The Main Ingredient explained to us clearly in the 70's that everybody plays the fool sometimes, we still try to be the exception to the rule. 2 Next up are our relationships with our family members...
