Adventures of a Twentysomething: November 2009

Adventures of a Twentysomething. As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are, otherwise you will miss most of your life." - Buddha. Tuesday, November 10, 2009. Saying goodbye, travel plans and updates. In a week, I leave site. How do I say goodbye to a village that has fed me, cared for me, and taught me what a textbook cannot? Just how will I get to Amerikah? I will be sailing the ocean blue, like Columbus, sharing the voyage with 19 other RPCVs! Instead of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria, the shi...

Adventures of a Twentysomething. As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are, otherwise you will miss most of your life." - Buddha. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. The loooong summer days. Summer is here and so far so good. In these long hours of daylight, I have found many ways to keep myself busy. And in just 5 short days I will be with Mom and Ellen in London! But before I leave for London, one big thing needs to be accomplished. My PCPP grant needs to be filled. I am $288 away from my goal! Volunteers w...

Adventures of a Twentysomething. As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are, otherwise you will miss most of your life." - Buddha. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Readjusting to the “Do-It-Yourself” Culture. How do I work it? Will you do it for me? The rough scrubbing glove). I want to hold onto as much of Morocco as I can while starting a life for myself below the Mason-Dixon line—some sort of Southern-Moroccan fusion. I thought I would have more figured out by now. I feel lost or maybe it is a di...

Wonderer: March 2010
http://lisapcv.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 3, 2010. We just switched some things around and had the women participate in the more visual part of the meeting (learning how to take photos of their products, reviewing the photos we had already gathered, etc.). A couple of the women seemed to really be into the process and I am confident that they will clear up whatever issue that we were having with their future attempts. Some have access to fresh milk from their own cows, so cheese making might be a great opportunity for them.

Wonderer: June 2009

Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Instead of giving you my reasons for not blogging in quite some time, I’ll just pick up where my life is at the moment. Yes, plumbing and electricity are nice, but all in all it was a pleasant start to the weekend. Although the food was unsurprisingly Moroccan, the carrots and squash and milk were amazingly even fresher and tastier than what I buy outside my house (I didn’t think it was possible). Plus, I got to ride a donkey. I may be back for seconds sometime soon.

Wonderer: July 2009
http://lisapcv.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 26, 2009. Giving is an issue that runs through my head on a daily basis. With the current economy-situation it can be difficult to be generous a times. Or maybe that isn’t true—haven’t I heard that those who are closest to poverty give the largest percentage of what they have to help others? Why is my first response defensiveness and embarrassment when approached by those asking for a hand-out? Are they looking for drug/alcohol money? Maybe I’ve just been too sheltered by my own accord...

Adventures of a Twentysomething: Ahhh, Fall
http://lizwhitton.blogspot.com/2009/10/ahhh-fall.html
Adventures of a Twentysomething. As you walk and eat and travel, be where you are, otherwise you will miss most of your life." - Buddha. Sunday, October 11, 2009. I love fall. Gone is the oppressiveness of summer, Ramadan, and nights full of noisy celebrations. In style, currently: sunny days with a slight chill in the air, busy days and leisurely nights, and my favorite fruit season—pomegranates and apples. Occasionally, I pause to stare at the hills and wonder if snow will fall before I leave—in ...
