the margin of my mind: Not a Book: Evita!

http://brokenmountains.blogspot.com/2010/02/not-book-evita.html

The margin of my mind. Friday, February 26, 2010. Not a Book: Evita! This blog was meant to be strictly about books, but I've decided to loosen up a bit. Here is a video that I am current obsessed with. It's 30 years old. I've never really been a fan of Evita. At first I thought Peron's rolled R's were kitschy and horrible. After watching it a million times I've realized it is actually kitschy, fascinating, addictive, and totally awesome. Monogrammed PJs for JP! The dictatorial hand motions!

the margin of my mind: Stuff...

http://brokenmountains.blogspot.com/2009/08/stuff.html

The margin of my mind. Monday, August 10, 2009. Anyway, The Cecils. A biography of the father and son who advised Elizabeth I) was a huge disappointment. Of course, I was reading for information on the Cook sisters (one of whom was the wife of William and mother of Robert Cecil) so I wanted the book to be something it wasn't. I also skimmed a Bette Davis. She was very Bette Davis, but also much nicer and more reflective than I expected. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

the margin of my mind: Theodore Sturgeon

http://brokenmountains.blogspot.com/2009/07/theodore-sturgeon.html

The margin of my mind. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. So, I'm back to book blogging. I'm not quite ready to tackle the awesomeness of Assassination Vacation. Instead here are some thoughts on a book I have to return to the library tomorrow: A Saucer of Loneliness. And it included some of these stories but there's nothing wrong with a reread! The Stories with some background:. Kurt Vonnegut talks about Sturgeon being a sort-of-but-not-really model for Kilgore Trout. A Saucer of Loneliness:. The World Well Lost:.

the margin of my mind: The water itself has strange qualities

http://brokenmountains.blogspot.com/2009/12/water-itself-has-strange-qualities.html

The margin of my mind. Friday, December 18, 2009. The water itself has strange qualities. So, long time no blog. My reading and blogging has been slow this year and I never even finished writing on my summer reading. The coolest thing I've read recently wasn't a book though. See below:. So, Spencer Krug's marimba EP has been released. Finally! Spencer is ummm. doing number 2 on a table. Spencer and his band mate are "3 things: ninjas, teleporters and babysitters.". WILL YOU BE BLOGGING FROM YOUR NEW HOME?

Allison Wonderland: October 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 06, 2011. My life doesn't revolve around my iPhone (this proven by the fact that I left it on the seat of my car in a MBTA parking lot one day this week). I don't own a Mac or an iPad. I never really thought about my iPhone or iPod on any emotional level. ButSteve Jobs died yesterday.and the emotional tributes to him on everything from Design*Sponge to Nightline to I Love Charts got me thinking: how do I *feel* about my iPhone? Do I even have feelings about it? Actually, yes. How?

Allison Wonderland: August 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 08, 2011. Anyone read Kelle Hampton's blog " Enjoying the Small Things. It's lovely, it really is. Check it out. Anyways, Kelle does this "Friday Phone Dump" thing - I'm assuming it's when she downloads all the photos off her phone camera. I saw her's today and thought "wow, that's a great idea! I'm gonna try that too! Hmm 349 photos/videos on my phone. WOW, how did that happen? I haven't even had my iphone for 6 months and I've managed to fill it with that much *stuff*? Chihuly at the MFA.

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Yesterday, the shuttle bus I was riding to work hit a woman and killed her. It was pretty much the most horrifying thing I've ever witnessed/been through. Monday, December 20, 2010. Christmas from the Ground Up. I am not quite finished with all the decor, but I think everything is going to come together nicely, and that excites me. I'll have to share some pics later! As for the lights, remember those berry lights I loved? Yeah, when we got to Target, there. Now that the orna...

Allison Wonderland: Some Pretty

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011/07/some-pretty.html

Monday, July 25, 2011. Some day I'll post about the 'Great Balcony Redo.'. For now, here's a shot I took this morning with my phone. My morning glories aren't as big as they should be - this might be for many reasons - but what they lack in diameter they make up for in color - it's saturated and bright and cheerful. I love it! Allison Wonderland: January 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 27, 2011. I'm working from home right now, typing at my dining room table. I'm sitting stretched out in a patch of sunlight. Kind of like a kitty cat. It's pretty damn nice, if I do say so myself. Who said the snow doesn't have its advantages? Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Look homeward.if the snow doesn't blind you, that is. When last I left you, we were on the runway at O'Hare, watching scenes like this unfold:. I tried to be worldly and understanding, but you know what? Ain't no trains ...

Allison Wonderland: April 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 28, 2011. There were certain things I wanted to do for my birthday. I had a champagne cocktail at the Barker Tavern (actually, I had 2). I got a mani/pedi and became a convert of the gel manicure. I went to Sephora and bought myself some treats. I did manage to get hygiene kits together for my church, but I didn't seem to take a picture of them! I still haven't started my Craft Hope project, but hope to soon! Then this happened in Alabama:. Allison Wonderland: February 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 25, 2011. I've felt so uninspired lately. I mean, look at this blog and it's crap postings - that's just a slice of uninspired for you. Blah. My friend's birthday party is next weekend. I love buying gifts, LOVE IT, but I can't think of a single thing to give her.talk about uninspired blah boring-ness. Maybe it's the lingering winter. Maybe it's my inability to finish things. And was able to read/nap in a patch of warm sunlight, I wouldn't feel the urge to flee all the time. If I hit it ...

Allison Wonderland: March 2011

http://risetovotesir.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 25, 2011. Yes I was uninspired, but. Do not despair, my creativity was not totally dead turtle pizza (inside joke). We were recently invited to a "re-birthday party" for a friend's bird. Chi-Chi's story is a great one, and if you're interested in the story, click here. Much easier to mix in a bowl! Since I had that run-in with the cake, I decided to scoop the frosting I was using out of the cannister into a separate bowl so I could soften in a bit by stirring. This was smart! I shouldn't ha...
