Thursday, May 31, 2012. This recipe comes from "The Gourmet's Guide to Cooking with Beer" cookbook. It was purchased during my husband's and my favorite trip we've taken together. For Christmas 2009 we drove from where we lived in Enterprise, AL, to where my cousins live in Colorado Springs, CO. ROAD TRIP! Around lunchtime I spotted a billboard that said " Crown Valley Brewing Company. And the exit number. The sign promised food and craft beer. Sold! We discovered that Crown Valley also had a vineyard.

Saturday, September 6, 2014. Sticky Maple Bacon Bourbon Chicken Wings. People. You must make this recipe. It's so easy and is, hands down, the best new recipe I've tested in years. Both the hubs and I loved this! Because I've lived in the northeast for most of my life, college football meant absolutely nothing to me. That is, until I moved south. It wasn't until our second fall in Alabama in 2009 that we got "bit by the SEC bug.". So how does one celebrate the start of college football season? 4 cloves g...

Saturday, May 3, 2014. Chicken and Sun-Dried Tomato Meatballs. It's easier to do this than you think. It forced me to plan ahead in a whole new way. It resulted in creativity. It is possible to make too much ratatouille. I missed cheese more than anything. I did not miss caffeine and was absolutely shocked about that. However, I did miss a good cup of coffee here and there. Hummus can fill in for a host of condiments. Sugar is in EVERYTHING (even mustard and salad dressing! Basil (um.see above). Whenever...

Tuesday, October 9, 2012. The Soup that Started it All - Roasted Squash Soup with Port. Here it is. The recipe that started it all. The first cookbook that sparked my interest in cooking is none other than Paul Newman's Cookbook "Newman's Own Cookbook." I requested it for Christmas one year and enjoyed reading through its many recipes. Then one Thanksgiving I decided to make a soup that I had never even had before: Roasted Squash Soup with Port. 1 butternut squash (4-5 pounds) halved and seeded. Step 2: ...

Special thanks to this website for the recipe (there are more here so check them out! Just need to add the banana and we're ready to rip! The recipe is simple:. 1 cup Yogurt (I used vanilla). 1 cup apple juice. 1 small banana (I used one that was very ripe so it was sweet). Dump it all in a blender and have at it! It's fun to drink out of a 20 ounce pint glass in the morning! 1 tbsp chopped...

Sunday, August 10, 2014. Pump Up the (Bacon) Jam. A few weeks ago Chris and I enjoyed a meal at one of our favorite Alpharetta restaurants: Hop Alley. Chris got his “usual” cheese steak. What in the world? So I ordered it. You can never go wrong. I was smitten at first bite. The bacon jam was a somewhat tangy/sweet/smoky/bacon-y spread and combined with the goat cheese and steak: it was delicious. I knew then that I needed to figure out how to make this. 8221; and then I tweaked it a little bit. And in a...

Sunday, September 23, 2012. Chicken Marsala Made Easy. In my efforts to purge my home of the plethora of cooking magazines I have been going through piles of them each night, tearing out recipes I'd like to try which has left me with a new pile of torn up magazine pages! A recipe that I've tried before with minimal success (mostly because if a lack of the right wine! So here we go:. 8 thin-cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts (I prefer tenderloins - pound them out so they're even). 1 TBS fresh parsley ...
