Two and a Half Acres: Neglecting the Patch
http://twoandahalfacres.blogspot.com/2009/01/neglecting-patch.html
Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Tuesday, 27 January 2009. I started this blog back in August 2007. I knew I wouldn't be able to carry on living here much longer, despite the attractions, and I wanted to record the plants, the animals and the magic of the place. Anyway, after that digression, back to the job in hand. Now that I am almost definitely sure that I will be moving on soon, I must share the pictures and observations I have made. 30 January 2009 at 02:44.

Two and a Half Acres: October 2008
http://twoandahalfacres.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Saturday, 11 October 2008. I haven't written about my two and a half acres for far too long so here are some October photos to fill the gap slightly:. This image is typical of the things I find on the hill - it's insignificant, not colourful, not exciting, yet how beautiful is that lichen? And finally, do you see what I see in this photograph? Look a little closer. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A lost way of life.

Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Thursday, 12 February 2009. I was persuaded by a friend and neighbour to go for a walk in the snow on Sunday. It was pretty hard work wading through knee-deep snow, and uphill, but the photos made up for the aching muscles:. Absolutely magnificent. The snow looks creamy. I truly wish I could have joined you! 15 February 2009 at 07:37. These are really very lovely snow photos Puddock. 25 February 2009 at 02:37. BBC site on UK wildlife.

Two and a Half Acres: The Fifties Croft in August
http://twoandahalfacres.blogspot.com/2008/08/fifties-croft-in-august.html
Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Sunday, 10 August 2008. The Fifties Croft in August. I'm going to cheat a little here and pretend that I wrote this post in August. I've been busy in the real world and haven't had time to post the final extract from a year on Wendy Wood's croft in the Highlands in the 1950s. She's in reflective mood this month. You can almost smell Autumn's approach in her writing. 12 October 2008 at 10:59. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Two and a Half Acres: June 2008
http://twoandahalfacres.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Monday, 16 June 2008. June on the Croft in the Fifties. Reading the chapter on June in Wendy Wood's little book. From a Highland Croft. Published in the 1950s, was less exciting than I had been expecting. I thought June would be full of the glories of a Highland summer but in those days, even more so than now, summer came late and June felt more like the back end of Spring:. Links to this post. http://twoandahalfacres.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Two and a Half Acres. The wildlife, plants and rocks of my bit of earth. Tuesday, 20 May 2008. Wendy's Croft in May. The extract I've chosen from Wendy Wood's book. From a Highland Croft. Written in the 1950s, for May is interesting because she writes about things that having fallen out of favour back then, are now right back in the mainstream - at least in part. She had been cutting rushes to use as bedding for the cattle, and then. Links to this post. Labels: a lost way of life. Saturday, 17 May 2008.
