Groups of local students have been visiting this Lakeland farmhouse for almost 50 years, and for many it was their first trip to such a remote and beautiful part of the country. He has just enough time for one last boat trip before Christmas and liked the Shroppie so much last year that he's visiting again on December 6th. By coincidence that's the date for Carols by the Canal, so he's assured us he'll be calling in! While you wait for him we've got plenty of entertainment planned:. Gates open 4:30, don't miss it!

It was a record breaking bumper year thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, organising committee and their helpers, and of course most importantly Santa and all the families who attended on Saturday night. Carols by the Canal: Talbot Wharf

There has been a wharf adjacent to Bridge 62 since the canal was built in 1835. Originally used by Staffordshire Farmers, the mill was a busy centre for the storage and distribution of milk and grain. Talbot Wharf at Market Drayton, looking towards Bridge 62. Traditional canal ware in the chandlery at Talbot Wharf. Tim and Lisa Machin are running the business now, and have lots of plans to develop the shop and visitor facilities over the next few years.
