June Meeting, June 7 at 7:00pm. At the Tommy Douglas Public Library. Near the corner of Kingsway and Edmonds in SE Burnaby. We are working on getting some guest speakers. Note: there are no regular meetings in July and August, we shall start again in September. We trap, tabulate and release juvenile coho salmon and resident trout twice a year. This is a two-day excercise. We've completed our late winter/early spring round, and the next trapping dates will be determined later in the year. It's OK to watch...

Byrne Creek Streamkeepers - Watershed Maps

http://byrnecreek.org/maps.htm

Byrne Creek Watershed is located in the City of Burnaby, BC. The watershed is one of many tributaries that empty into the Fraser River. The Byrne Creek Watershed includes the Burnaby South Slope area from Sussex to 10th Ave. and from Kingsway to the Fraser River. Burnaby GIS map (City of Burnaby). Byrne Creek Streamkeepers - Watershed Threats

http://byrnecreek.org/problems.htm

Threats to Urban Creeks. Silt flowing from storm drain into Byrne Creek. When it rains, water runs off from streets, parking lots and buildings, and into storm drains. Storm drains collect runoff from the entire watershed and convey it to streams through underground pipes or "creeks beneath the street." This runoff is NOT treated, and often carries contaminants from automobiles, construction sites, and other sources into creeks.

Skytrain to Fraser Foreshore and Back

Skytrain to Fraser Foreshore and Back. Tuesday, January 16, 2007. With the snow lying deep in many of the outlying areas, we decided to do an urban walk from Metrotown down to Fraser Foreshore Park and back up to Edmonds Station. This is one of my favourite local walks; I enjoy its highlights of Kaymar Creek, the Fraser Foreshore, Anton's delightful restaurant, Byrne Creek and the hundred steps up its magnificent canyon to Edmonds Station at the top.
