By my time in Alaska and the many books, art and experiences we collected over that time traveling throughout the state. I pulled the sketch for this illustration. From a sketch session during the now defunct Illustrator's Jam. A stylized figure drawing previously created for an Anchorage Daily News editorial on breast cancer. The added texture creates a very different feeling.

This was actually done for a story on "big vegetables" grown in Alaska and shown at the Alaska State Fair. The size of the cabbage in comparison to the man is not far off in size according to what was grown except the weight might be a bit more then he could carry. I like your use of the heavily textured gesso base coat; it really brings some character to an already interesting style.
