Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. The Nazis came to power in Germany by winning the most seats in an election. The Muslim Brotherhood came to power in Egypt by winning the most seats in an election. I dislike when political opponents become "the enemy." That's Nixonian—and Harperian. But I'm afraid Steve has brought it upon himself by making. Himself an enemy, of the Constitution, of our parliamentary democracy, and of Canada. Harper despises the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and has no respect...

Fromage: The sound of music
http://liferightsideup.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-sound-of-music.html
Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. The sound of music. I grew up appreciating music more than sound quality. Later, when I was at university, I had roommates and friends who owned nicer stereo systems. I also worked at a stereo store, absorbing the prejudices of audiophile salespeople. The self-titled Fleetwood Mac album, the first with Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, was so well recorded that we used it for speaker demos. John McFee's bass! Instead, what do I do? This was true even when I h...

Fromage: Répétez, s'il vous plaît
http://liferightsideup.blogspot.com/2015/05/pardon.html
Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. Oui, ça me fait hônteuse. Les gens me disent, "Your name is so French!

Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. I want to be a better human being and do what I can make a better world. I imagine many if not most of us do. I have learned, but there is a lot more to learn, so I continue to learn. I learn in all kinds of ways. But by being scolded? A child is scolded by its parents, by a teacher, by someone in authority. But I know I am not a child. Once I grew up, I hoped never to be scolded again. You know who scolds? Links to this post. A new trip down Sleater-Kinney Road.

Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. White nativism is incredibly ironic. Imagine being nativist in a country where your ancestors squatted on someone else's land, often slaughtering those someone elses in the process because they were in the way. It takes a special kind of ignorance, stupidity, or maybe sociopathology to come up with shit like that. Nativists think they're more native than actual native people! Back to Africa because if they're not slaves they're of no use to you? And lighter....

Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. Rock is dead, they say. Is an appropriate response (and the next line in the song). But "rock and roll will never die"? Frankly, even though it's harder to get bookings or listeners, I think it's probably better for rock to be a somewhat underground phenomenon. Rock gets bloated in the limelight. It thrives in the demi-monde. Links to this post. You can go home again. Photo by Paula Worsley. Photo by Scott Ferguson. The next afternoon, we gathered at the club...

Fromage: Life after life
http://liferightsideup.blogspot.com/2015/05/life-after-life.html
Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. So I was going to write about how all the critics were wrong in saying that Don Draper in the Mad Men. Finale was actually dreaming up the iconic "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" Coke ad while he was seemingly blissing out in California. I was sure that was wrong because the origin of that ad is well known and documented, and series creator Matthew Weiner had not previously done that much fictionalization of history. Anyway, since Mad Men. And got to catch ...

Mild, sharp, fresh, aged, creamy, pungent. I read a ton of stuff on the interwebs. But I usually avoid anything with even a whiff of click bait. And that's a ton of avoiding. Trying to make money by creating nothing is a practice as old as humanity, but I have my own tradition of letting them get their clicks elsewhere. She said she had always known that. How did I not know? The ability to feel more strongly and deeply must be a good thing, right? Links to this post. Labels: Highly Sensitive Person.
