Sweating in Style: July 2013
http://www.sweatinginstyle.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 19, 2013. Vermont City Marathon Race Recap. It has been almost two months since I ran my first marathon and it was starting to seem like I might never blog about it. But this was too great a thing not to put into (written) words. I started this post (through about mile 4) the week after the race and wrote the remainder yesterday. Luckily, I still remember it like it just happened. VCM: Sunday, May 26, 2013. It was a cold and rainy day in Burlington, VT. Before Joann started her half. I'd hea...

Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Project Breakfast: Basic Chia Pudding. Up until a few years ago, I didn't know a thing about chia seeds. Then I read born to run and have never forgotten the author's theory that "if you're stranded on a dessert island and can only bring one thing with you, you should bring chia seeds because, eventually, they'll make you strong enough to swim home". Here is my beginner Chia Pudding recipe:. 2/3 c chia seeds. 2 c almond milk. 1/4 c dried fruit. 1 tbsp. honey.

Sweating in Style: Being a Tarzan
http://www.sweatinginstyle.com/2014/06/being-tarzan.html
Monday, June 23, 2014. Since I read Born to Run over two years ago, I have been into this idea of "Being a Tarzan". I often talk to Josh about being a Tarzan and I decided it's time to share this idea with anyone who hasn't read the book so I went searching for the passage. In the wake of my disappointing second marathon. I'm not trying to say that runners are assembly line workers. I know most runners cross-train and know the importance of stimulating different muscle groups. But if you have one...Think...

Sweating in Style: May 2013
http://www.sweatinginstyle.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 24, 2013. The Last 6.2. There is a lot of weight in those last 6.2 miles. Everyone says that they're the darkest part of a marathon, when your body really gets tested. Each of those miles achieves a distance that most first-time marathoners have never run before, myself included. Mile 21: Nathan, Ingrid and Inna. Mile 22: Nikki and Hadley. Mile 23: Katy, Joann and Tony. Mile 25: Mom and Dad. Last night, when I told Josh I was running mile 26 for him he said, "Why? Tuesday, May 21, 2013. I am ...

Sweating in Style: September 2014
http://www.sweatinginstyle.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 10, 2014. I have often considered taking up trail running but I've been scared of wandering the woods alone in DC. I get paranoid. My best friend Ingrid started running trails with her boyfriend and telling me how awesome it was. So over labor day weekend, I set out in the middle of the afternoon to explore some trails near me in Rock Creek Park. The verdict: trail running is awesome! Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
