In the heart of the Hautes-Alpes is the sunlit lake Serre Ponçon. The lake covers an area of 3000 ha and is the largest reservoir in Europe. The dam (built from 1955 to 1961) , where the rivers Durance and Ubaye come together, is 124 m high and 630 m wide. The lake is ideal for surfers and sailors and for young families there is a "plan d'eau".This is a separate bathing area with a specially costructed fine gravel beach, playground and a large lawn.An ideal place for chidren!

At Camping Les Tourelles you may rent a mobile home -fully equipped, with two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, toilet and kitchen. Available all year round on a weekly basis ( Saturday - Saturday). This ensures a great summer holiday, but also the possibility of a week or two of fabulous winter sports. The ski resort of Les Orres is 15 km away! You may also go by bus from Embrun to Les Orres if driving in the snowy mountains is too awesome! Week 1 and 2.

Embrun and the Tour de France are inseparable! Embrun is regularly one of the cities along which the Tour caravan passes! Not surprising that many visitors from our campsite come to see the finest cycling race in the world! Contador, Evans, the Schleck brothers can be seen from near the campsite! Camping les Tourelles is surrounded by the most famous summits of the Tour de France: col de l'Izoard, Lautaret, Galibier and La Bonnette.

Embrun is at 870 meters altitude and is a small town between Gap and Briançon. Embrun has about 7000 inhabitants, and is near the largest reservoir in Europe - the Lac de Serre-Ponçon. Embrun is only 5 minutes walk from the campsite. The town is known for its magnificent cathedral Notre-Dame du Real, built between 1170 and 1220, and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This is the most important religious monument of the french Alps, and a visit is worthwhile.
