That's Not What The Recipe Says: Spring Frittatas
http://www.thatsnotwhattherecipesays.com/2010/04/spring-frittatas.html
Thursday, April 8, 2010. The beauty of a frittata is you can personalize it to your own favorite flavors. I actually made two different choices. The grown up version had diced ham, onions, mushrooms, asparagus and fresh thyme and parsley. For the kids, I kept it simple with just bacon and sautéed onions. 1 cup chopped onions. 1 cup sliced onions. 3/4 cup sliced asparagus. 1 cup diced ham. 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped. 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped. 1/4 teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper.

Sunday, January 2, 2011. The oysters above came from the East Dennis Oyster Farm. And they are simply exquisite. I can't include the recipe here because it's the recipe I'm running for my food column this week in. Newspaper and editors don't like it when you scoop yourself. So consider this a preview. Here's a close up shot:. These Baked Oysters Casino were truly yummy. Since it was New Year's Eve, the Kitchen Genius cooked not one, but two, racks of lamb. It was a mountain of meat, oh my! Saturday, October 31, 2009. Homemade BBQ Sauce, No Corn Syrup Need Apply. Is that a rooster in the henhouse? Yep, it is. Tinkerbell is in fact Mr. T. And you know what that means, don’t you…. Even though the Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the others" ran through my head every time I looked at my chickens, it took the first cock-a-doodle-do to convince me. And once he found his voice, he used it pretty much all day long, much to the annoyance of my neighbors. Chickens aren’t te...

That's Not What The Recipe Says: Sweet Potato Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas
http://www.thatsnotwhattherecipesays.com/2009/02/sweet-potato-pancakes-with-caramelized.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Sweet Potato Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas. Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day? All three names applied to yesterday, the day before the beginning of the Christian season of Lent. We love any excuse to celebrate something different than our every day life, but what to make for dinner? I was thinking about making a jambalaya, but it was getting late and my energy was waning. A trip to the grocery store and fish market sounded like too much work. No holiday is comp...

He whipped up an absolutely delicious sesame snow pea salad that everyone loved. He used a toasted sesame ginger seasoning made by Victoria Gourmet. Here's KG getting some sister love while his cousin looks on:. Sesame Snow Pea Salad. 1 tablespoon ...

That's Not What The Recipe Says: More Turf than Surf this Labor Day
http://www.thatsnotwhattherecipesays.com/2010/09/more-turf-than-surf-this-labor-day.html
Wednesday, September 8, 2010. More Turf than Surf this Labor Day. It's hard to know where to start after such a long absence from blogging. Do I just continue as if I never took a break, or do I explain the break? The two are kind of tangled in this post, so bear with me. First the food! For years we have celebrated both the beginning and ending of summer on Cape Cod by eating lobster every Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Kitchen Genius had another idea. He wanted to play with fire. And he wanted meat!

That's Not What The Recipe Says: Wild Mushrooms
http://www.thatsnotwhattherecipesays.com/2010/09/wild-mushrooms.html
Thursday, September 30, 2010. The Kitchen Genius has been on a quest to forage for wild mushrooms for years, but they just plain scare me. Nonetheless, we took a class with Lawrence Schuster, a member of the Boston Mycological Society,. Last year thinking maybe if we learned more about it, it wouldn't be as dangerous - or scary. I was wrong. The class just convinced me that I would never eat a wild mushroom, never, ever, ever. That anyone who's into gardening and foraging for food will love. While I was ...

Monday, February 22, 2010. Braised Pork Roast with Rigatoni. There's nothing like a big pot of red sauce on a chilly winter Sunday. I still have canned tomatoes from my garden last summer and honestly, they make the best sauce ever. It makes me wonder how I survived with store bought tomatoes all these years. It has also made me determined to grow LOTS more tomatoes this year. I plan to fill the front yard with them if necessary. This recipe was inspired from one the Kitchen Genius found in. Wow, that's ...
