Stories from Backstage: May 2008

Work, photography, and artsy crap. Thursday, May 29, 2008. And a few more to go. I turned the big "3-0" a few days ago. I aged in style, in the Turks and Caicos. I couldn't think of a better way to "age gracefully". It's a significant birthday, so I plan on starting it off right: make better decisions, be more financially secure, travel even more, and a few other personal goals. To anyone else who turns "30" this year, or had a birthday on May 26. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. What a lazy ass am I?

Work, photography, and artsy crap. Friday, October 19, 2007. Work it harder, make it better.". Anyone still read this? I haven't posted in over a year. I think? Kayne West's song "Stronger" is stuck in my head. I could be because there is the underlying chorus of Daft Punk's "Stronger" in it. Oh well. Catchy none the less. That Kayne is a smart man. Wanderlust temporaritly fulfilled with a short 3-day trip to San Francisco. No Rice-A-Roni, but I saw the hill they filmed the commercial at.

Work, photography, and artsy crap. Monday, September 22, 2008. Has a review of two of the concerts I worked at the ICA. One featuring a photo of Mr. Jeff Means, an up and coming conductor. Otherwise, the festival was a success from all apparent views. (And the new ICA has a FANTASTIC view! I had a 5 hour day, a 6.5 hour day, and 11 hour day, and two 15 hour days. Needless to say I was beat. I had a good time working with the crew at ICA as well. Monday, September 15, 2008. Ditson at the ICA. Bent Objects...

Work, photography, and artsy crap. Monday, November 10, 2008. Hangin' with Leonard Nimoy. Yesterday, I finished up a project I had been working on for a few months. For the anniversary of the Jewish "Kristallnacht: Night of Broken Glass". My first gig outside of Boston, thought not so far away. It was at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. In Providence, Rhode Island. The only snafu was the conductor forgot the encore! Did I mention Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) was the narrator! I'm such a Trekkie. SHARKavist...

http://marievonkampen.blogspot.com/2010/09/arrival-of-my-sketchbook-project-2011.html
Work, photography, and artsy crap. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The Arrival of my Sketchbook Project 2011 Moleskin. It arrived a few days ago, the unassuming empty Moleskin, in a simple yellow envelope. With it, came one small page of instructions, as well as my Brooklyn Art Library Card. The back had my name, appropriate bar code, my theme, and the future site of my information. I say "future" because I need to fill it out.but only after I get started. Open up my mind even more. I may make myself crazy.

Stories from Backstage: December 2008
http://marievonkampen.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Work, photography, and artsy crap. Wednesday, December 03, 2008. Happy Birthday, Mr. Carter. Just finished up the Elliot Carter Festival. At NEC. Tonight is the last of the concerts. Just in time for stage extension and risers for other groups, both renters and conservatory groups. The usual contemporary music "madness".lids off pianos, lots of percussion, 500 pound harpsichord being moved all around the building. Happy 100th Birthday, Mr. Carter. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
