travels of a stethoscope

Travels of a stethoscope. Friday, May 15, 2015. I’m down to my final hours in Nairobi and facing a car ride of Friday afternoon traffic before I arrive at the airport, so I thought I’d be productive about being stopped in a line of bumper-to-bumper cars and finally explain a little bit of what I’ve been up to for the last two weeks:. And the program director kindly invited me back this year. Every morning for pediatric rounds, after which we spent time in didactic sessions. Honestly, not having to co...

travels of a stethoscope: matemwe

http://www.carolynontheroad.blogspot.com/2015/05/matemwe.html

Travels of a stethoscope. Monday, May 11, 2015. This past weekend, I got a new stamp in my passport - Tanzania - and spent a lovely two and a half days on Matemwe Beach, on the northeast coast of Zanzibar. It's a quiet part of the island, where hotels are less densely packed along the shoreline, tides can be dramatic and the local economy includes seaweed harvesting at low tide. I was the only guest booked into my B&B. But I have to confess that I wasn't completely upset when Saturday dawned not entirely.

Travels of a stethoscope. Saturday, May 18, 2013. Click here for pictures. For a Saturday afternoon in the MICU, life has been rather slow this afternoon, so I've finally compiled (read: pared down) an album of pictures from my trip. Because I am a more avid consumer of social media than I like to admit, you can find it on facebook via this link. Even if you're not a facebook user. Thanks for being a part of my journey for the last month. tune in again in the fall for more, hopefully! Monday, May 13, 2013.

travels of a stethoscope: November 2013

http://www.carolynontheroad.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Travels of a stethoscope. Saturday, November 9, 2013. Of the road, but clearly attracting a lot of attention. (Note the Kenyan man on the far right also taking a picture with his. So we did, in the middle of the hospital courtyard, with dusk falling and her family circled around her. We treat the physical body - sometimes well, sometimes not well enough - but Jesus is our comforter, our hope, and - ultimately - our healer. And so we can praise God, even in situations like Faith's. Faces from the month.

travels of a stethoscope: April 2013

http://www.carolynontheroad.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Travels of a stethoscope. Sunday, April 28, 2013. In spite of a somewhat-weighty ending to the week, I've had a wonderful weekend off. On Saturday I went to the interns' graduation - or rather, part of it. It was supposed to start "promptly" at 11, and in spite of the fact that Chuck had told the Kenyans to be there at 10:30, there was still one graduating straggler that we had to wait for, until he showed up at 11:15! The old bridge was rickety. This one is not. After: hanging onto Agneta for dear life.

The snow started last night, and it's not expected to stop anytime soon.  It is currently raining some sort of icy mess, and Noah loves all of it! Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Mama voted for Obama.

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon: Friday afternoon in Cameroon

http://noahontheroad.blogspot.com/2011/08/friday-afternoon-in-cameroon.html

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon. On August 1, 2011, the Schlaudecker family will be heading to Cameroon. Sunday, August 14, 2011. Friday afternoon in Cameroon. It's been a busy few days at the hospital: rounding with the residents, teaching neonatal resuscitation courses, and leading afternoon lectures. When we returned from the hospital in the afternoon, Jeff and I were able to fit in a quick rainy hike with Noah. He ran down to the grassy airstrip and only wiped out once:. I love the image of Jane! Jane a...

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon. On August 1, 2011, the Schlaudecker family will be heading to Cameroon. Thursday, August 18, 2011. We have now been back in Cincinnati for a little over 24 hours, and life is haltingly returning to our normal routine. We were sad to leave Cameroon, but we enjoyed our last few days. The day before our departure, we took a picture of our entire team:. Noah and Jane made some new friends by way of the drainage ditch. And to eat some "plums". But Bunny made a speedy recovery and...

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon. On August 1, 2011, the Schlaudecker family will be heading to Cameroon. Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Trekking up the hill. After 30 minutes of singing and dancing in church on Sunday morning, we set out on a hike ("trek" in Cameroon) to enjoy the first few hours of sunlight we had seen in a while. Noah made it all the way to the top of the nearby hill by himself, and Jane enjoyed her spot in the wrap. Miss you all and thanks for your emails and comments. August 9, 2011 at 9:45 AM.

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon. On August 1, 2011, the Schlaudecker family will be heading to Cameroon. Sunday, August 7, 2011. The past few days in Cameroon have taught me several things about the rainy season:. Eat a fresh avocado (licking the plate clean). Shop at the very wet Saturday market (can you find Jeff and Noah? Review charts for our research study all afternoon. And learn to play the African drums! We are off to bed now, but I look forward to reporting on our SUNNY morning (today! Koleski Fami...

Jeff met with Dr. Palmer to discuss resident education, and Hannah and I set off up the hill for a hike. As we crested the hill, we spotted two unidentified white people in the distance:. We rushed over to the Sparks' house for pizza after our hike, and the Sparks family gave Dewey's a run for its money:.

Noah and Jane go to Cameroon. On August 1, 2011, the Schlaudecker family will be heading to Cameroon. Friday, August 5, 2011. We are up and running! Jeff and I are happy to report that we have outwitted the Apple computers and accessed the internet! We were so excited to arrive at Mbingo just a little while lat...
