How very dare they? | catchingcottonclouds

https://catchingcottonclouds.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/how-very-dare-they

A fine WordPress.com site. How very dare they? Published June 1, 2015. Every so often, for a laugh, we round up the family and head off in the direction of a bit of modern art. Each time I am reminded of The Emperor’s New Clothes. Surely,. Everyone is faking admiration, and feigning intellect, as they scuff around with narrowed eyes, tilting their head this way and that, eyeing up a dirty comb with a missing tooth here, or the dried contents of a can of paint that’s been hurled at the wall there? How Ver...

A fine WordPress.com site. OCD – just another way of Organising Cupboards and Drawers. Published June 7, 2015. 8211; I hesitate to call them ‘loyal friends’ – have been known to label, nay. Me of having OCD tendencies. I like to think of it more as being Orderly, and using Categories and Details to make life flow like liquid wax down polished granite. Wipes up image-debris and buffs*. Collecting thoughts… | catchingcottonclouds

https://catchingcottonclouds.wordpress.com/2014/10/06/collecting-thoughts

A fine WordPress.com site. Published October 6, 2014. There’s never really been a pigeon-hole large enough to accommodate me and all my writing baggage. A pigeon. Might be better suited. Sinks into fuzzy daydream*. I could compartmentalise it and have a corner for children’s books, another for children’s poetry, one for short stories for adults, one for flash, one for… oh, I seem to have run out of corners. ‘Grown up’ poetry can sit in the middle. Slaps own cheeks and returns to reality*. It’s a st...

#thinkofapoem | catchingcottonclouds

https://catchingcottonclouds.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/thinkofapoem

A fine WordPress.com site. Published September 27, 2014. My lovely – and talented – friend, Liz Brownlee has been made National Poetry Day Ambassador. Have a look at her website and you’ll see why:. Http:/ www.poetlizbrownlee.co.uk/site/welcome/. To bring poetry to the forefront, Ambassador Liz would like everyone to #thinkofapoem – and to use that hash tag on Twitter with the poem title, or link. Boris, ’twas said, was a hundred years old. With a beard right down to his feet. Amassed in the hair. Larr; ...

Oh, nuts. | catchingcottonclouds

https://catchingcottonclouds.wordpress.com/2015/05/31/oh-nuts

A fine WordPress.com site. Published May 31, 2015. Oh dear, I’ve abandoned my post again, haven’t I? Gone off and been distracted by…. Truth is, other people have really good blogs where they give ‘their public’ (mwah, dahling) those pearls of wisdom they’ve been waiting for, intelligent posts about matters literary, or packed full of detail on subjects about which they have great knowledge, or a fiery passion. Falls into a hazy brown dream…*. Sorry, I was just thinking about. Favourite topic then –.

Patsy Collins - Words about writing and writing about words: Willow

http://patsy-collins.blogspot.com/2015/08/willow.html

Patsy Collins - Words about writing and writing about words. Monday, 10 August 2015. She's my dad's dog ( I've just been visiting and did some research for my latest WIP whilst I was there, which is as closely connected to writing as this post will get). I first saw her when he'd had her just two days and she was just a little bundle of fluff. This is her about four months old. This is Willow now at just over a year old. I wish my novel would put on weight at the same rate. Alex J. Cavanaugh. Different c...

Short stories to be consumed with a favourite beverage. Friday, 31 October 2014. Halloween Night Scary Story The Baum Rabbit. A flagon of pumpkin juice sipped by candlelight. I have had two encounters with the Baum Rabbit in my life. The first took place during the winter months of 1964 when I was still a young man. I have always lived in Rochdale, and as long as I have lived here I have been aware of the local legend. And that was it. For years, that was it. I no longer have those doubts. Satan’s ...

AN OLD BIRD'S EYE VIEW. After setting up camp Dave went hunting, but when he returned he found Stella unpacking a box. “I ordered two comfy chairs,” she said happily, “They were a Black Friday bargain.”. http://lizy-writes.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-mills-of-god.html

AN OLD BIRD'S EYE VIEW. THE MILLS OF GOD. THE MILLS OF GOD. Each of Dusty Miller's first two wives had drowned in the mill-race. Tragic accidents, he claimed – they’d slipped on the steps whilst drawing water – but his temper was legendary and people had seen the bruises. After failing to find a third wife locally, he settled for a woman he met in the town tavern. Missus Miller III was strangely dry-eyed at his funeral. lizy-writes: STRIKE - a 100 word story

http://lizy-writes.blogspot.com/2017/01/strike-100-word-story.html

AN OLD BIRD'S EYE VIEW. STRIKE - a 100 word story. I promised her she’d regret leaving me, so when I’d collected enough pills I dissolved them in my morning coffee. Bloody doctors and a stomach-pump put paid to that plan. I faint at the sight of blood, so knives are out of the question, I’ve no idea where to buy a gun, and the gates to the canal towpath were locked. Another story prompted by a photograph on Rochelle's blog. Oh, Liz, so clever! As morbid as it was, I loved it! Glad you liked it, Iain.

AN OLD BIRD'S EYE VIEW. CHRISTMAS EVE AT THE DINER. SAME PICTURE, DIFFERENT STORY! I wasn't totally satisfied with my first response to this week's Friday Fictioneers' photo prompt, so here's another story. Do feel free to scroll down and read the other two stories I've posted this week. CHRISTMAS EVE AT THE DINER. Sally’s feet ached. Christmas Eve had been a long, hard slog. Certainly less dark than my first effort! Nice Seasonal. Good job :). This comment has been removed by the author. Susan A Eames at.
