May 18th, 2015. May 18th, 2015 at 2:42 PM. Today I pause to peruse a book I bought for a friend. Minor White, Manifestations of the Spirit. In the book, Paul Martineau writes an essay that brings together the photographs and life of Minor White. I am sitting with plate 131,. Schoodie Point, Maine. When I feel the house move, or so it seems, when in actuality, it is probably a crow, jay, or squirrel scampering across the roof, and the sensitivity of the house takes notice. I sit with these words of. Ldquo...

May 17th, 2015. Where I live -. May 17th, 2015 at 7:32 AM. Peter Coyote has this to say on why he is leaving Marin:. Speaking of time, you’ve lived in Marin for many years. But now you are moving. Why? I feel I’ve spent 40 years fighting for this great place, trying to preserve it, and I’m going to spend what is likely my last vigorous decade not fighting anymore, perhaps helping others, and leave before I get cooked. Im not ready to leave. Our house is isolated. We have land, and we have peace. Als ice ...

Jul 23rd, 2013 at 9:35 AM. When my youngest son Chris was in college, he made a student film here in the house. Chris is a perfectionist, and I kept saying maybe he could relax a bit. Well, then, through this one experience I will now share, I saw the example I set. The world comes to an end and we find what truly matters. Not typos, and I am insanely crazy about typos, but what really matters? I ask you now: What matters? What swings our soul? I ask you now. What matters to you? How fun is that! And whe...

May 11th, 2015. May 11th, 2015 at 7:50 AM. On Saturday we went out on an 83 foot tall ship and sailed around San Francisco bay. It is a boat used to educate children. The biologist gathered plankton from the sea as we sailed, and we looked at plankton under the microscope. She spoke of the invisible forest. It was an exquisite day. Today I am still rocking back and forth, still rocked, cradled in the deepest joys of connection, research, education, teaching, inspiration, sharing, and love.

I am married, with two grown sons, both of whom are also happily married. I believe in Santa Claus, which means I still hold out great hope for the world. I see myself as a citizen of the world and not just the United States. How can I more finely tune myself to balance both at once? I love and appreciate this life I'm given, and ...

May 15th, 2015. May 15th, 2015 at 10:49 AM. Today I put a shawl around my shoulders, unusual for me, but there is a chill in the air. Summer comes to the Bay area. We dont complain. We were hoping for rain but we do have clouds, and there is something restful in the gray. Does the weight of the shawl or veil make a difference? Yes, when it is our choice. Many of us were brought back to childhood, to religious requirements. I remembered how females had to have their heads covered in the Catholic c...We do...
