In order to efficiently transfer these to canvas and panel supports, she uses alkyd paints, known for their similarity to oil but with a shorter drying time. The alkyds allow her to apply the paint in transparent layers or as a heavy impasto using a palette knife.

That creates a different surface from canvas. I like the way the paint flows across the surface, allowing detail or drips with ease.
