Faire Garden: Interesting Insects
http://fairegarden.blogspot.com/2008/07/interesting-insects.html
Monday, July 7, 2008. We have been getting some visitors in the garden. Most of them can even fly in to have a look around. Some even let us get close enough to snap a photo. What colorful eyes he/she has. Maybe it was thought that the blue chair on the deck was water? This larger one is another story. Many attempts were made to get close enough to macro, but this is the best that could be done, using the zoom. Pretty interesting, don't you agree? Ah, staying put if not holding still on the. Is this Blac...

Faire Garden: July 2008
http://fairegarden.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 21, 2008. It is early morning and we are going out the back door to have a walkabout the garden, as we try and do every single day. We have had some rain recently so says the dragonfly's flagon. Good deal. That means the plants should be pert and perky. Off we go! On the tomatoes, with the arborvitae behind, someone has been a busy spider. You have created a vision of beauty Ms. Arachnid. Very geometrical. Down in the area we call the flat garden where the old gravel driveway of the house ne...

Faire Garden: A Little Whimsy In The Garden
http://fairegarden.blogspot.com/2008/07/little-whimsy-in-garden.html
Thursday, July 17, 2008. A Little Whimsy In The Garden. Our story opens in the maternity ward under the deck at Faire Garden General. Mister and Missus Bongo Congo are beyond excited, for her sand has broken. A little even splashed up onto her cheek. Mister looks a little worried, but she assures him that everything will be okay. The demure lady Catherine was from a hot, dry windy place and felt comfortable up in the knot garden among the thyme. Chemistry drew them to each other, it was undeniable. Final...

Faire Garden: Veggie Harvest
http://fairegarden.blogspot.com/2008/07/veggie-harvest.html
Friday, July 4, 2008. Seeds were sown in May outside of zuchinni Eight Ball. This is a tasty and fun shaped variety. We have harvested several of these round beauties already. Another squash, Magda, has been bearing well also. This is a new variety, from Park seed, that was recommended in a talk that. Perennial pepper. Click. To read that story. It is back and some of the volunteers have flowers already. The little orange balls look good with the fall foliage. Besides the onions from seed, which are stil...

strength from the soil: Brussels Sprouts
http://wholeeartheats.blogspot.com/2008/10/brussels-sprouts.html
Strength from the soil. Monday, October 13, 2008. I think Brussels sprouts get a bad name because over 80% of US production is for the frozen food market. But they're really good and surprisingly simple to prepare. 2 lbs Brussels sprouts. 4 T olive oil. 1/2 t black pepper. Nice blog. I love sprouts :) Thanks for the mention, too! strength from the soil: Prince's Farewell Dins
http://wholeeartheats.blogspot.com/2008/09/princes-farewell-dins.html
Strength from the soil. Thursday, September 18, 2008. Prince heads back to Ghana tomorrow, so this was our last chance to serve him our "interesting" food, hopefully with a hint of the more familiar, from Shawn's recipe collection. Prince, we'll miss you! If you feel guilty about the long cook time, you could steam veggies for freezing over the pot while you wait- just be sure to stir once in a while. 2-3 bunches of kale, stems removed and chopped finely. 1 bunch collards, dittoed (or use extra kale).

strength from the soil: Raspberry Curd
http://wholeeartheats.blogspot.com/2008/09/raspberry-curd.html
Strength from the soil. Thursday, September 25, 2008. We're trialing new pancake recipes all the time (serious research), but this sauce only needed one taste test. The original recipe. Was from Tea and Cookies. Besides being too lazy to strain out the seeds, we didn't make any changes. Perfect for when those pancakes just aren't sweet enough. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
