January 19, 2016 in faith. Author’s Note: It’s been a while. An ocean of greens, a sea of white crosses, a hall full of names of the fallen, trees, birds, a clear blue sky; nothing has changed. Setting foot in sanctuary still gave me that sense of wonder and expectation. Nostalgia never failed to welcome me. How long has it been since I first stood before the gates? How many times has my heart cried out to You asking, begging, longing, and simply wanting to be near You? Coming back was like coming home.
