Birding while I work | The Incidental Birder

https://cedarwaxwing.wordpress.com/2008/03/02/birding-while-i-work

A blog about birding while usually doing something else. Road birds →. Birding while I work. March 2, 2008. I’ve set up a makeshift smörgåsbord for the birds outside my 3rd story office window. All I need to do is turn my head to the right and I can see who’s visiting the 3 feeders. When I noticed that cardinals were looking forlornly at the tube feeder, I wedged a l large plastic container lid under the window and poured seed on that. The cardinals were delighted. Currently that’s the view...Fill in you...

Finally a Junco pays a visit | The Incidental Birder

https://cedarwaxwing.wordpress.com/2008/12/06/finally-a-junco-pays-a-visit

A blog about birding while usually doing something else. The mystery is solved. Finally a Junco pays a visit. December 6, 2008. I used to get a lot of dark-eyed juncos at my feeders, then one year they stopped coming, or at least it seemed that way — but if they were there, I didn’t see them. I set up the birdcam. Again — for how long? Who knows. Until my laptop is moved to a different room perhaps — but yesterday I had it going and a junco stopped by for a bit of seed. The mystery is solved.

About | The Incidental Birder

https://cedarwaxwing.wordpress.com/about

A blog about birding while usually doing something else. In 1981 or so I met Marie. She’d been teaching herself how to identify birds. Because I respected, and idolized her a bit, I thought perhaps I, too could teach myself about birds. I bought a cheap pair of binoculars and a copy of Peterson’s Field Guide to Birds East of the Rockies. And began to learn to distinguish one bird from another. At first I thought I’d call this blog The Accidental Birder. A nod to one of my favorite Anne Tyler books.

The unbold new look of Procrastinitus Interruptus. Go to these ones too. Notes from the dreamtime. Wednesday, September 12, 2012. False starts, and a true stop. I used to see something or think of something and couldn't wait to get home to blog about it. 1 Listening to Frankenstein. While driving to Sudbury with my mother to attend an aunt's funeral. 2 Being asked by a coworker, who is from the United States, what Canadians think of Americans. As a treatise on disability issues.
