Thursday, 6 March 2014. DIY Tutorial 4: Hexagonal Quilt. This one is less of a tutorial, and more of a documented journey into quilt making! After seeing a beautiful tray in liberty covered in hexagonal shapes of liberty fabric I have always wanted to try making one of these quilts myself. I'm not sure I have the patience to make a whole quilt (the first one I made I quickly decided it was going to be 'kids sized') so I might just aim towards a cushion. So here it goes! I stitched the hexagons together b...

Monday, 17 February 2014. DIY Tutorial 3: Emergency Sweets Supply Jars. Just a really quick DIY for you today. Yesterday I made some emergency sweets supply jars for a lovely friend of mines baby shower. I wanted to make them look really pretty so used some of the fabric scraps I had to give them all floral lids. If you enjoy getting a bit messy and having your hands covered in PVA glue you'll enjoy making these! Once dry you can fill the jars with your favourite sweets! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hats ...

Thursday, 26 May 2011. The Old Farm House. As the degree show quickly approaches, all left to do is now sew the garments together! I've taken a few shots of the fabrics for you to see before they get cut up. Here is the house pattern. The print below can be bonded to another fabric, cut out and sewn into the old farm house. By cutting along the orange dotted line, these shapes can be sewn together and embroidered to create the birds above. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hello and welcome to my blog!

Friday, 22 June 2012. The most recent addition to the bird family has come in the form of a commission for an Indigo Bunting. These stunning blue birds are commonly found in the eastern and middle states, migrating from southern Canada to northern Florida. To stay true to their name I used indigo blue to dye the yarns, and log wood and henna for the dark brown. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hello and welcome to my blog! View my complete profile. Tuesday, 15 November 2011. A day in Felixtowe. My first visit to Suffolk and a lovely day out with my good friend Polly. I took a few snaps on a walk around the coast - just love all the colours you find by the seaside! Thursday, 3 November 2011. The Goldfinch is finally finished! Had to force myself to stop embroidering otherwise I could have gone on forever! Anyhow, here he is. If you like the look of him he's up for sale in my etsy shop. With the other birds. Nowon to the next! View my complete profile.

Hats may be involved: The Burning House

http://hatsmaybeinvolved.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-burning-house.html

Sunday, 24 March 2013. Interesting idea and obsessively organised photos! If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It's a conflict between what's practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Helen Foot Design: October 2014

Monday, 13 October 2014. Collaborating with Sheep of Steel . . . Earlier this year I was delighted to be contacted by Irem Arig, owner of Sheep of Steel. To see if I would be interested in making some collaborative scarves with her. Irem spins the most fantastic yarns and has an amazing sense of colour, so there was an proposition I couldn't possibly refuse! But picking just 4 designs for our first batch of scarves was no easy task! We had ideas for hundreds so we really had to rein ourselves in. From th...

Sunday, 7 June 2015. MY TEN TIPS FOR NEW TEXTILE GRADUATES . . . 1 First things first, update your CV. It might seem obvious but it's such an important part of the first impression you will make with a potential employer. Get it looking slick and make sure it's not too wordy. You need clear formatting, bullet points rather than paragraphs and a couple of great referees (make sure you get their permission 1st). 7 Be someone worth knowing. Friday, 17 April 2015. Buddying Heather Shields . . . I've been kindly asked by the Crafts Council. To act as a 'buddy' again this year and have been paired up with Glasgow based weaver Heather Shields. I'd met Heather briefly last year when she attended the 'LOOM' seminar I curated for Stroud International Textiles. So it has been lovely getting to know Heather and her work better. Solar State Solutions | An interactive blog of the Florida Renewable Energy Association

An interactive blog of the Florida Renewable Energy Association. September 21, 2015 by (See end of post). I was not surprised that clean, renewable energy industries did not get spoken about by the candidates even though a majority of republican voters favor them. I’m still mystified by this! Renewable technologies are some of the fastest growing industries in this country and especially so elsewhere on the planet. Solar PV and wind turbines are mainstream energy conversion sources! Wake up, candidates!
