Saturday, December 6, 2014. This post was originally published on November 27, 2014. While walking, I contemplated gratitude. In addition to family, food, good health, and shelter, the following blessings rose to the forefront of my mind:. Reconnecting with old friends. New friendships formed by shared grief and understanding. The helpers who stepped forward out of the blue. Having a closer relationship with my other family members. Are available for purchase as prints or cards through my Etsy shop.

River Bliss: September 2014
http://riverblissed.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2014. The Light of a Distant Fire. It's Sunday evening, and still so much to do to prepare for the work week ahead. Bills to pay. Lessons to plan. Laundry. The day has faded into darkness. The vegetable and herb gardens are covered with old sheets in anticipation of the season's first frost. I light a stick of earthy incense on the indoor porch overlooking the river. Then I notice the light across the river. And followed by Sonata Pathetique. 169; Susan Meyer and River Bliss Photog...

River Bliss: June 2014
http://riverblissed.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 27, 2014. Today was the first official day of summer vacation, which is possibly the best day of the whole year! Nothing compares to completing the school year and having a sprawling summer ahead. Last night, I watched the extraordinary firefly show in our back yard and asked myself, "What should. I be doing right now? What a great feeling. After a year of tremendous gravity, my mission for the summer is to lighten up in every way possible - and to feel good. Last weekend, my husband and I p...

Ivy League-West: Why?
http://ivyleaguewest.blogspot.com/2013/06/why.html
A gentle transition between home and school. Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Kids spend day after day asking why. Why is the sky blue? Why do birds fly? You know the drill. How often do we, as parents, ask why? What if as parents, we asked why as often as our curious children? What if the majority of the expectations, lessons, words etc. were prefaced with the question why? What if you asked yourself, what is the purpose of this word, this action? What is my goal? Ivy League-West: June 2012
http://ivyleaguewest.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
A gentle transition between home and school. Monday, June 4, 2012. To be honest, I had to fight my instinct to tell the children to come back to our activity. I had to keep reminding myself that relationships cannot be rushed. I love the way children can arrive at the park and "make friends" immediately, but these relationships are circumstantial and fleeting. As an adult we interact constantly with others but these are not the relationships that hold our hearts. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). There was an ...

A gentle transition between home and school. Saturday, August 25, 2012. I always feel like I must add a disclaimer before I write this type of post. I LOVE teachers! The article states,. Research shows that a high-quality preschool can help students make large gains in school readiness.". What research shows this, they do not state or mention. This is followed by:. From reading the article I know that Ms. Meera Kreitzer is referring to. Rebecca A. Marcon of the. By the end of their sixth year in school, ...

River Bliss: July 2014

Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Finding Beauty at Omega. I just returned from a truly nourishing and inspiring Mindfulness in Education conference at Omega Institute. In Rhinebeck, New York, thanks to a full scholarship funded by the 1440 Foundation. I will write about the conference itself in one or more separate posts. But for now, I want to share the beauty of the campus - for it, too, was inspiring. The Sanctuary was my favorite area - my anchor - to which I returned repeatedly. Here is the entrance. It remi...

River Bliss: July 2015

Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Through Day-Blooms and Beads of Dew. This post was originally published on July 7, 2015. I stopped in my tracks to listen to the advice the day-blooming flowers offered about making the most of a brief existence. They said:. There's so much living to do. The day is young,. And the day is short. Wake up and engage it. Don't waste a moment. Wallowing in longing or regret. You have this one day to work with. The material of Here and Now. So make the most of it. If someone were to wa...
