The Charente is a small coastal river 361km long, which runs through the local town of St Jean dAngély. St Jean dAngély canoe club rents canoes and kayaks and can provide instruction. Alternatively, passenger boat trips are available in Saintes and Cognac. The Charente also has an abundant fish population, home to roach, bream, pike, perch, tench and carp. Fishing tackle and bait are widely available in supermarkets as well as specialist shops. For nature lovers, there is the LArche de Noe.

Is a beautifully restored detached farm cottage bordering open countryside, sleeping 6-8 people. The ground floor has a wonderful open plan living area which includes a fully equipped kitchen and a very comfortable lounge with a traditional charentaise fireplace, oak beams and a useful double bed settee. The upper floor features three bedrooms and a bathroom:. Bedroom 1: Double bedroom with an original French bedstead. Bedroom 2: Twin bedded room with oak beds. Bedroom 3: Pine bunk bedded room.

You can relax in the pool or enjoy the shade of the walnut tree in the orchard garden. Both properties have their own private patio areas with barbeque facilities. The cottages have been totally refurbished and have all mod cons. You will have use of a ten metre swimming pool and we provide a welcome hamper on arrival.

Our properties are located in the Charente Maritime département on the west coast of France. This is an area renowned for white sandy beaches, beautiful flower-filled Cognac countryside and oysters. There are large areas of woodland and forests and the agricultural land is used principally for growing sunflowers, grapes, wheat and maize.
