Google Earth Tour of the Marangu route, Kilimanjaro. If you’ve prefer a more graphical version, check out the Google Earth Tour. Transfer to Marangu gate (1,860m.) to begin 6 day climb. After formalities at the park gate, you begin your hike to Mandara hut (2700m) on a cleared trail passing through a rain forest. 3-4 hours trek / 5 miles. After breakfast hike to Horombo hut (3720m) through a short stretch of forest, across a meadow and wooded stream,. Then emerge into a grassland. 6 hour trek / 7 miles.

Google Earth Tour of the Marangu route, Kilimanjaro. Walking to the top of Kilimanjaro. On the 10th May, I’m going to attempt to walk to the top of Kilimanjaro with my brother in law. Hopefully it’ll take us 5 days to walk to the top. And then 24 hours to get down again. I’d going to be walking on behalf of Practical Action.
