Another lovely evening ( all week sunny and 15-20 degrees ), and some reports of Hirundines led us to set nets on iron path and in middle of right hand side reed bed. Joe, Dave, Stuart. Sunday, 22 June 2014. CES 6 - surprising low numbers, apart from the team. Sunday 22nd June 2014 :. Linda, James, Dave, Stu, Luke's first outing as a trainee. All nets up slightly early therefore, another glorious morning, the day after the Summer equinox. Only 31 birds caught, mostly in the far net in the scrub area. Reed Warbler 2 ( 6 ), Chiffchaff 2, Sedge Warbler ( 5 ), Whitethroat 2, Blue Tit 2, Wren ( 1 ), Blackcap 6, Reed Bunting 2, Robin 1. Other birds seen: Buzzard, Grey Heron, Green Sandpiper.

Sunday, 30 November 2014. Starling roost at Chelmarsh. Sunday 30th November 2014:. Following the success last week, attempt again including same nets in main bed and on iron path, as well as two nets along path to hide given that last week birds landed and crossed that area. Dave F, Dave B, Joe, James and Stuart. The roost didn't build as last week - probably a maximum of c150 with dispersed groups in the main. At one point looking like we would draw a blank, but as dusk approached we caught a few birds.

I added salt and black pepper half a cup of water, I find this creates steam and cooks the veggies better, it also evaporates towards the end of the cooking, spray with Frylight or drizzle with oil if you don't have to watch the calories and bake in a hot oven, mine was 195*c fan oven for about an hour or so until soft and slightly browned.
