Life with the Alexander Technique. Moss on the North Side. March 7, 2017. March 7, 2017. 8216;A home with moss growing is a happy home.’ —Marth’s mother. Photo courtesy of pixabay. Moss grows on the north side. Of our city home and also the cabin on the hill. Green loveliness even in winter months, if it stays mild as it has this season. Other markers of a happy home? A well-swept front porch. Rooms that receive natural light. The scent of cinnamon. A tea kettle in frequent use. And the happy domicile.

October 30, 2016. 8220;…and when each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises.” Paulo Coelho,. We need to intentionally soften our hearts and allow them to feel joy for small goodnesses and beauty that pierce through the ordinary. Most of us will not win the lottery, invent something or become famous. Even if we did, we might find that those things alone do not guarantee a rich and vibrant life. Our escape ...

The Sniffles – Poise and Presence
https://alexandertechnique2016.wordpress.com/2016/12/22/the-sniffles
Life with the Alexander Technique. December 22, 2016. 8216;I’ve got the sniffles.’. That sounds innocuous. A cold virus is anything but. Two holiday parties and a long-anticipated lunch date missed. A week-end lost to a Benadryl-induced stupor. How about practicing a few Alexander Technique principles instead? Observe Self. Note unpleasant cold symptoms. Note the mind’s response to them. Pause. (This is the Do-Nothing part.) Choose what happens next. Perhaps choose this-. Share this: Poise and Presence.

#WeekendCoffeeShare: Joy Riding | Colder by the Lake
https://colderlake.wordpress.com/2016/05/28/weekendcoffeeshare-52816
May 28, 2016. If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am what this cycle-friendly region calls a “joy rider,” not ready for the hills of the escarpment (road riders), or set up for long distance routes (tour riders). But 120 kilometres of our pathways are just my speed, and I cycle for the bliss of it each day (see bike-travel video below). SCENES ALONG MY BIKEWAYS. If you were here, I would invite you to fly along a bikeway with me. We would see:. A meadow, one of dozens, begging for a picnic.

Let the Pros do it! December 14, 2016. Last Sunday I had a professional photographer come up to the garden to shoot some shots of a couple of Posies. I made two, both Valentine themed, at the request of a media opportunity for a story geared to spawn some unique alternatives for Valentine flowers–something other than red roses! And thank you Debra Prinzing. For the opportunity to submit my Posies! I also wanted to use the opportunity to grab some great shots for my book proposal. And that I did!

Waiting – Poise and Presence
https://alexandertechnique2016.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/waiting
Life with the Alexander Technique. December 8, 2016. December 9, 2016. The waiting time. Days shorten, and long evenings are lit by neighborhood displays, crackling fires, and candles. I write this on a dark afternoon promising early nightfall. Gray clouds are scudding overhead, brown leaves swirling in the wind. We’ve been waiting for centuries. Waiting for hope, for deliverance, for better days, for wars to cease, for new life to be born, for the light to return. May you linger,. Enter your comment here.
