Monday, October 13, 2008. I've moved a lot in the adult-portion of my life. View of the Puli valley. In the 14 1/2 years since I graduated from high school, I've lived in the following places:. Taiwan: Puli, Caotun, Taichung. Salt Lake City, Utah. Washington, DC area: Vienna and Arlington, Virginia. With Pele, my missionary trainer and one of my all-time favorite people. Why don't we have any week-long holidays in America? My, admittedly belated, gift to you this Chinese New Years is a recipe for some super tasty dumplings. A quick history of the dumpling's place on the New Year's table. In a nutshell, dumplings look like an old form of Chinese money,. Shui Jiao (a.k.a. Boiled Dumplings). 2 T sesame oil.

Sunday, September 21, 2008. Carri, Pippa, and I outside Hua Shan. (Notice the nasty air.). The two highlights of our 3 days in Xi'an, at least for me, were visiting Hua Shan (more on that in a moment) and the food. On the food front, I loved being able to buy fresh, obviously locally-grown, produce. Top of my list were pomegranates (so sweet and so fresh), sweet potatoes, and macadamia nuts. About to chow down on a pomegranate. Wood carving at a historical home in Xi'an. Carri on Hua Shan. 3/4 c club soda.

I guess now that I have an ipod, a flat screen TV, and now officially a blog, the only thing left in my modernization is to learn to text message.
