One of the sad realities for children living on the streets of Haiti is that they become acclimated to going days without food. Malnutrition is rampant, as countless people suffer from sporadic eating patterns and poor diets. In response, Child Hope offers the MUTCH Feeding Program (Meals and Uncompromising Truth for the Children of Haiti). This program operates three days a week and feeds approximately 100 children from the surrounding neighborhood. It costs about $60 per day.

An education in Haiti is a luxury that most cannot afford. There are few public or free schools, and the expense of uniforms, books, and tuition is beyond the grasp of the average Haitian family. According to the CIA Factbook, half of the children in Haiti do not attend primary school, and only one in five attend secondary school. This lack of education has led to an adult population with a literacy rate of only 53%, reinforcing generation-to-generation poverty and a cycle of hopelessness.
