This lake lost 90% of it's total size on the last 15 years and it seams that it will be completely dry in the next 10. There are a few projects to save the lake so lets hope that they will succeed. Airport security was a joke but apart from that, things worked quite OK. Very nice hotels available next to the beach although they can be quite expensive. Luckily I wasn't paying :). Quinta-feira, 9 de setembro de 2010. Praia Island - Cape Verde. After spending so many days away from home, or sometimes even weeks, it's so good to hear somebody speaking our language. Small airport but very nice people. The island itself is a sight. Strongly recommend anyone to put on their "to visit" list. We stayed at "Oasis Atlântico" hotel. Nice, simple, clean; All that we need to have some rest, and the view over the sea was awesome,. As usual, here goes some pictures. Enjoy. Jerez de La Frontera.

Terça-feira, 26 de outubro de 2010. Saint-Louis was the capital of the French colony of Senegal from 1673 until independence in 1960. From 1920 to 1957 it also served as capital of the neighbouring colony of Mauritania. So we can see that it use to be a major city. Well, after being in this city I can conclude that no maintenance has been done since the French left. And who could blame them? They need to avoid their people to die from starvation first. You can either see the President riding is helicopter out of his palace or you walk 20 meters and you see the extreme poverty that his people is suffering.
