If I hold my breath, close my eyes, pray, wish, daydream; I can almost reach it. And then. I exhale. I say it out loud. I say it to myself. I talk in my sleep. And then. I awaken. And perhaps only a woman can relate to the dissonance repeating in upending tones. Or maybe I shouldn't pull women. I don't pretend there is a "happily ever after."...

A look at that photo brought back to memory a beautiful, soulful brilliant, BRILLIANT, older man whom I was so smitten with, I could hardly speak in his presence. I remember lying in his bed, behind french doors with billowy curtains and a handwritten sign that said: Impasse. I talked a good hello but she talked an even better goodbye.
