Music links the world. IN SEARCH OF MUSIC. Finding history, art, architecture and culture along the way. St Giles in the Fields. April 10, 2014. Friday 4th June 2010 Anne Page gave an unusual recital. Part was played on the gorgeous Early English organ, restored by Bill Drake, part was played on a harmonium. Bach and Early English sounded very fine, played on an unequally tempered tuning. Santa Maria della Passione, Milan. April 5, 2014. April 2, 2014. Hence the looking out at an average ‘no view&#...

Music links the world. St Stephen’s, Bournemouth. April 29, 2014. Here’s a statue, away from the nave area. St Stephen’s is our little cathedral, really. Very French in looks, certainly from the outside. You’ll see it on your left as you travel on the elevated section of the Wessex Way: there’s more than a hint of Notre Dame with the flying buttresses around the apse. Tour de France, London. RCO Study Day, London. St Stephen’s, Bournemouth. Halkett St Market, Jersey. A website by ciaran.com.

Music links the world. St Helier Harbour, Jersey. April 29, 2014. This is a memory that goes back to my earliest days. These days, though, it’s partly a trendy marina visited by the wealthy. Back in the 50’s / 60’s it was just a workaday port with daily visits from the ferries to mainland UK. A generation earlier, as witnessed by my family, it was the main interchange for all the German Army’s operations. Out in the bay is Elizabeth Castle. Halkett St Market, St Helier, Jersey. Tour de France, London.

Music links the world. IN SEARCH OF MUSIC. Finding history, art, architecture and culture along the way. March 26, 2014. If only it were possible to get to Cambridge more often: there’s always something happening*, and every corner has architectural detail, history, character. Having a friend with a spare room makes stay-overs a possibility as it is, otherwise, a costly destination. Better still, when that friend has a houseful of historic instruments. Ever wondered what paradise looked like? The double ...
