Clematis

Sunday, November 29, 2009. With all the moving and digging we have been doing, some of our clematis plants have been recovering in pots, and two or three haven't done well. We lost Crystal Fountain as it was in a pot during one of the coldest of winters that passed during 2008/2009. So sad! We are looking for a replacement as it was one we loved and we will just have to learn to put the plants into the ground ASAP. I think it was just rotting weeds there. Friday, November 24, 2006. Clematis: Our Clematis Collection

http://www.clematiscollection.blogspot.com/2006/11/our-clematis-collection.html

Friday, November 24, 2006. John Warren is a very large flowered clematis. A pleasant surprise when it finally performed. Our mystery clematis has turned out to be a new and improved Miss Bateman. This plant is growing very successfully in a pot, but last year it was one that was 'pruned' of every budding blossom by the squirrels before we could identify it. This one blossom has lasted a good month, so I look forward to seeing a more productive display next year. Constance Alpina at left. Josephine has fi...

Our Garden: November 2006

http://ourflora.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html

Please click on the first picture under each heading to see varieties of specific plants in their glory. We have started collecting penstemons as the hummingbird population is much larger here and in need of more entertainment and 'territory' for each bird. This year was the first I experienced territorial battles between hummingbirds. At a later time, when I have confirmed names, I will add them to the blog, but in the meantime I wanted to share our fall colors. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Our Garden: Bulb Experiences

http://ourflora.blogspot.com/2006/02/bulb-experiences.html

Please click on the first picture under each heading to see varieties of specific plants in their glory. This has been the most entertaining of bulb displays we have managed so far. The tulip has multiple stems, and the flowers change from yellow, to pink, to deep pink, over their lifetime. The bulbs come from Vessey seeds. And are hard to acquire, as they consistantly run out each season. We love to attract the hummingbirds that adore this plant. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Please click on the first picture under each heading to see varieties of specific plants in their glory. At a later time, when I have confirmed names, I will add them to the blog, but in the meantime I wanted to share our fall colors. Along with the chrysanthemums, we usually have a few fall pansies around our entrance. As the pots were constantly being moved for driveway construction this fall, planting in the ground hasn't been an option. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Rhododendrons and Azaleas: The Rhododendrons

http://rhodosandazaleas.blogspot.com/2008/02/rhododendrons.html

Thursday, February 28, 2008. Macrosepalum Linearifolium at right is an unusual rhododendron in that it has very spidery structure, both with foliage and flowers. Ken Janeck just starting out above. Ken Janeck in full bloom shows no pink, here at right. Wren, a tiny bush with big flowers; quite a contrast at left. This was an unexpected color and we hope it will fit with the tulips around it. Olga Mezitt at right. Black Satin' to the left. Starry Night' here at right. Augustine Hobbie' is at right.
