Welcome! | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/about
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. S is a space where I share the images which excite, delight, intrigue and inspire me. It’s also a pinboard for my own escapades as a ‘have a go hero’, as I experiment with whatever takes my fancy. From playing with ‘art’ to making useful things, it’s all fun. 16 thoughts on “ Welcome! Pot Luck | Stuff and Nonsense

Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 7, 2015. Yesterday I was thinking I really should get on and make a picture, and since I was lacking in inspiration, ended up taking what was in front of me – my old mustard pot of assorted brushes and pencils – plus a bonus feather. I didn’t manage to complete it in one sitting, so finished it off today. This entry was posted in Coloured Pencil. Forest Fringe →. 18 thoughts on “ Pot Luck. August 7, 2015 at 6:11 pm. Forest Fringe | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/forest-fringe
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 12, 2015. We had a day out with some dear English friends over visiting from their home in the US. The plan was to go to Thetford Forest, have a picnic, and do the ‘Go Ape’ treetop adventure. Now, I quite like tree climbing, but have done this recently, so I opted to stay on the ground, look after the bags and try for a sketch. Anyway, in this picture I tried to go darker than usual, with some success, aiming for a contrast between the rather bleached grassy area an...

Fruit, Figurative | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/2015/08/13/fruit-figurative
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 13, 2015. The figs are ripe on the tree, and the birds are starting to feast on them; we’ve picked a bowlful I’m not sure how to use – jam maybe? I usually make fig pie, but there’s only so much of that a body can eat. Anyway, a stray couple of figs made their way to my desk to be converted into a Tombow picture. Fig Reprise | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/fig-reprise
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 14, 2015. I don’t know, I guess I’ve just got figs on my mind. I fancied having a go in coloured pencil today, so here it is. I prefer yesterday’s pic, but still enjoyed doing this one. The controllable nature of the coloured pencil is refreshing after the looseness of the watercolour pens. The weird shadows are a product of the windows in my kitchen. Maybe that’s me done with figs for now…. This entry was posted in Coloured Pencil. Fishing for People →. Fill in you...

Silly Cat | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/2015/08/06/silly-cat
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 6, 2015. Sitting on the sofa, doodling, this came to me. It reminds me of some of the visual jokes and word games they used to put in Mad magazine. When I was a small child in the ’70s. There’s not much else to say, except I had fun! This entry was posted in Animals. Pot Luck →. 19 thoughts on “ Silly Cat. August 6, 2015 at 3:22 pm. Fishing for People | Stuff and Nonsense
https://rebeccayoungnicholson.wordpress.com/2015/08/15/fishing-for-people
Inspiration, Art and Endeavour. August 15, 2015. My son and his friend went fishing today, and since I had to accompany them, I used the time to try some little sketches of the gents who were having more success than us at the fishing lakes. As I’ve mentioned before, I find sketching people tough, partly because I just haven’t done enough of it. So this was all good practice of trying to capture people in real time.
