Cogs and Wheels: The material culture of revolutionary China. April 15, 2008. The rights and wrongs of contemporary Sinophilia. Material culture/art and design. 8212; amyjaneb @ 10:04 am. There’s been a really interesting debate about Chinese art, and the current craze for it in the West, on Guardian Unlimited recently. Isn’t it a bit rich that China, with its human rights record, is being so assiduously courted by so many British museums and galleries? In her response to Jones:. Leave a Comment ». Depar...

Cogs and Wheels: The material culture of revolutionary China. March 14, 2007. Controversy surrounds new exhibition of Tibetan artefacts. 8212; amyjaneb @ 10:39 pm. Wrote about this exhibition. Ages ago on her blog – I’m just trying to catch up after my busy week! Unfortunately (for me) the article she links to is in German, but I’ve used Google’s nifty translation tool (I got a D in GCSE German) and can offer a, slightly dodgy, English translation of the article here. 1 Comment ». Is the Saxophone really the work of Satan? Sunday, May 17, 2009. The black ghosts - the black ghosts. The video for 'Anyway you choose to give it' , which sort of goes with the idea that it's made by computers or robots! For comparison purposes, 'LaBreeze' by Simian. And the brilliant 'I Believe' by Simian Mobile Disco (you might recognise the singer). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. What have I reviewed? Associates - club country 12". Wholly Vague: club country 12" - the associates

Is the Saxophone really the work of Satan? Tuesday, September 08, 2009. Club country 12" - the associates. A return to the Halcyon year of pop 1982. Unwittingly every day seemed to start the same. AG It's You Again' another version of 'Arrogance Gave Him Up' from Sulk, less polished and with a strange, slightly hectic feel from the giddiness of the drums. So less like the theme tune to a nature programme. In bed with Bourdieu. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow me on Twitter. What have I reviewed?

Cogs and Togs
As a kid, whenever I got really bored (this was before the internet, mind you), I'd play dress up. Dig into my closet, my mom's closet, the dress-up box, and put things together in ways that they were never meant to go. Sometimes the results would be excellent, like my mom's Irish fisherman's sweater over my red dotted-swiss ballet dress, worn with a vintage locket and birkenstocks. I was eight. It broke "the rules". I'm feeling the urge to play dress up again. Break some rules. Have some fun. Wunderlich...

Firestorm Armada: Judgement Class Battleship. I haven't forgotten about my Directorate fleet for Firestorm Armada. well maybe I did for a short while.
