My Life As a McGee: Catching a "break"
http://beingmcgee.blogspot.com/2015/05/catching-break.html
Thursday, May 14, 2015. Today is Thursday. at least I think it's Thursday. Yes, yes, the board in front of me says Thursday, May 14, 2015! I'm sitting here in a room with the lights turned off, the small TV anchored on the wall tuned in to CNN covering the Amtrak derailment, and my dad sleeping soundly in a hospital bed with his right leg in full traction. So surreal. Joan and I followed AMR to KU Med. So, KU Med, here we come! Pelvic cup) and has a pretty significant gap where it split. Intense may ...

Before I forget, I just have to say thank you to our friends and family who are supportive of us and this journey. Ethan is steering the ship so it is going to be a fun ride! Remember the Moms of Sick Kids. But the truth is, they don&...

My Life As a McGee: Remember Dads too!
http://beingmcgee.blogspot.com/2014/09/remember-dads-too.html
Friday, September 26, 2014. Remember the Dads of Sick Kids. Http:/ www.kevinmd.com/blog/2014/06/remember-fathers-sick-children.html). When I was a little girl, my dad was my hero. He was strong and brave, and it only took his presence to make me feel safe and secure. I thought he understood everything there was to know in the world. I believed he could solve any problem, slay any dragon, protect me from all harm. For many dads, their struggle looks like this:. When Dad is a supportive caretaker instead o...

Saturday, May 4, 2013. Evening As A Child 2013. On April 27, 2013, Chris and I were asked to share Ethan's medical journey for the Capper Foundation's major fundraiser, An Evening As A Child. http://beingmcgee.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 23, 2013. November 22, 2013. It was a very cold Friday night in Topeka. The night before we had freezing rain and it was questionable how Friday was going yo turn out. thankfully it was beautiful and the Prince of Peace Preschool carnival took place as planned with not a care in the world. E was a bit apprehensive at first, but once daddy got there it was much better. The two boys did the cake walk three times and finally won a strawberry cake. And dug in the Dino dig for treasures.
