Welcome to All Saints, Coddington. The hamlet of Coddington is to the east of Herefordshire, deriving its name from the Anglo Saxon word for a collection of mud cottages. My brother suggested that I read John Pridmore's column on the Sunday readings in the Church Times of 22 September. I've never looked at it before, but I'm glad I did this time. As John Pridmore points out, "The child whom Jesus esteems so highly is any child, not the especially trusting, especially knowledgable, or specially perceptive child.". We should take Jesus's teaching about any child seriously.

I watched a recent Channel 4 programme giving the results of a survey on the attitudes of Muslims in this country, the tone of the programme being that they were worried that Muslims, instead of integrating, were wanting to keep themselves separate. I feel reluctant to tell them about my own particular pet projects, but perhaps we ought to do more to indicate what is going on. For example, the web site ought to have much more on Trade Justice: not just links, but commentary and guidance too. There's a risk of controversy but I think that wouldn’t do us any harm, whereas doing nothing would.

The Colwall Ale House. Mill Lane, Colwall WR13 6HJ. The Colwall Ale House is a beautiful 16th century hall situated next to the churchyard of St. James The Great in Colwall Herefordshire, close to the Malvern Hills. It continues to be used by the community after nearly 500 years and is available for hire by the public.
