The pretty powder room | Connecticut Country House

http://www.connecticutcountryhouse.com/2015/04/the-pretty-powder-room

I’m Nora Murphy. I’m Nora Murphy. The pretty powder room. April 3, 2015. This weekend, all our Easter festivities will be based in our hub, the kitchen, where we’ll be initially gathering, while enjoying nibbles and sips as we’re cooking. The keeping room (a.k.a. dining room) will be set for 15 (! If I didn’t have them, I’d opt for small potted hyacinth or tulips….or even a sweet little bouquet of flowers in a vintage pitcher. PS So here’s a little tidbit of info Murph just gave me on the origin of...

A bank of gold | Connecticut Country House

http://www.connecticutcountryhouse.com/2015/04/a-bank-of-gold

I’m Nora Murphy. I’m Nora Murphy. A bank of gold. April 29, 2015. The forsythias at Connecticut Country House are planted. On a bank where I keep them under control – but wild looking. This bank creates a fabulous dense backdrop of color for the house – brilliant golden yellow in the spring, deep green all summer long, and tinge to burgundy in the autumn. April 30, 2015 at 10:17 pm. Your forsythia is beautiful and I agree that they look best when “wild”. May 21, 2015 at 7:06 pm. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Home in New England: March 2015

http://homeinnewengland.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

A photo journey from a small New England town. Saturday, March 21, 2015. To welcome in Spring, even though it doesn’t even feel like SPRING! My daughter and I decided to do a little Spring craft today. So we tried it. We took the skins of about 10 onions ( a mix of yellow and red.) and brought them them to a boil in a large pot. Then my daughter poked a hole in each egg and did that FUN job of blowing all the yoke out of each egg. They went into the pot ( on simmer )with the skins for about a 1/2 hour.
