Living and Gardening in the Ozarks

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Thursday, March 1, 2018. Morning at the Homestead. I am getting back in the habit of taking a very early morning stroll about the immediate homestead. Max will be happy to note that I am also letting the girls our to graze! He had warned me that the Light Brahmas are prone to fly up on him.that would unsettle me to the point of flight! However, they didn't bother me at all. He said it was because I was not carrying any feed with me (which I will now never do). Some per...

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks: August 2015

http://countrylivingintheozarks.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Saturday, August 29, 2015. Yesterday was another perfect day weather-wise. The meter was replaced on the generator so we should be set in case of another outage. I did not go back outside to work after lunch. I was ordered not to overdo by my husband and my Sis. It didn't take much persuasion! First they resurfaced our county road; all that is lacking is the painting of the edges and the center line. I snuck a few shots of the men at work:. I didn't really care. The st...

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks: August 2014

http://countrylivingintheozarks.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Wednesday, August 27, 2014. The heat continues. We did get a 1/4 inch shower Tuesday evening. The garden is pretty much history. I finished canning tomatoes yesterday morning before the vet came to preg check the two milk cows. My total is now 46 pints of canned tomatoes. I am happy with that; it is the best from the current garden so far. There may be a few more tomatoes but basically the garden is finished. I am too! I froze almost a bushel of sweet peppers. We final...

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Painting At Last - Partly Done. First, it is raining a gentle rain this morning after getting 1/4 inch late yesterday evening. I was up a little later this morning, 4:30 AM. DH was up right after and got the first pot of coffee going. This looking east from the swing. I hope the rains will wash the treatment into the soil. DH reported back this morning after checking the herd that a baby was born dead. That is part of farm life; it doesn't ha...

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Weather Change is Coming. Promises to be cooler, good; more rain; bad. Still no hay. I read Flower Lady's blog. This morning and one of her followers posted a comment about gardens that appealed to me greatly. She called her Florida lush gardens 'raffish'. I loved it. Here is the definiation of raffish:. Unconventional and slightly disreputable, especially in an attractive manner. Here is a picture of mine:(one section of raffishness). Finally...

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks: Planted At Last

http://countrylivingintheozarks.blogspot.com/2015/05/planted-at-last.html

Living and Gardening in the Ozarks. Thursday, May 14, 2015. I am still playing around with header or no header.this one fits but is too large! More changes to come. Yesterday was a good day. I went out fairly early and planted a row of tomatoes (two cattle panels long), all the many and varied peppers (I lost my mind here! I cooked a pot of white beans and ham and made a small blackberry cobbler and tried a mincemeat tart instead of the turnovers. The tart is easier and just as tasty. Your header is grea...

Thursday, October 3, 2013. Our theme was Golden Oldies and the plywood dancer cutouts were loaned to us by Lance and Jessie Neal. We were ready to roll, even had plastic on the hay bales. A Flowery Hobby: February 2012

http://afloweryhobby.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 26, 2012. The above two photos are of Helleborus that are blooming now. I think they are so pretty, even the undersides of the leaves. Don't know what variety I have as they were a start from my daughter. My new header picture is also the helleborus. I like the crocus foliage and my photograper (daughter) got a good shot of the foliage in this pic-notice the buckeye behind the foliage. My daughter took these photos in her yard. She has lots of birds including these pretty cardinals.
