Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Sunday, June 16, 2013. Thinking about other stories. Oh, those other stories. So enticing in their open-endedness, their possibilities of plot and plot twists. Those characters I don't know yet, who might do anything. Those settings I would need to research, and research a little more. Mmmm. Links to this post. Thursday, June 6, 2013. And yes, still wrestling wi...

Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Apparently I have not posted anything at all this month. My virtuousness was confined to getting my Christmas cards sent, my charitable donations mailed out, presents bought, and cubicle decorated excessively. There was no virtue left over for posting. Or for decorating the house beyond a couple of door wreaths. More later, my dears!

Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Sunday, January 5, 2014. It's a new year, I've had my birthday, and maybe I should prove that I haven't actually abandoned this blog? So, how about a recipe, though not a particularly seasonal one, given the heavy frost and heaved ground here, alternating with grey clouds and sleety rain. I have found buttermilk ice cream recipes. So, examine several buttermilk ...

Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Tuesday, January 8, 2013. This is why I don't read litfic. Every clause of this blurb further confirmed this as a book I would never, ever read:. That last sentence in particular sets up so much. and delivers a crashing anticlimax. The least it could do is finish with 'while standing in the ruins of her burnt-out house.'. Links to this post. Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Wednesday, September 11, 2013. The octave of the 3-Day contest. Ah well, I told myself. I'll get an early night and start off all chipper by 5 am (my usual time of getting up). Did I? Nope, I lay slugabed until 6:30 am. On the Monday night, when I had to chuck it in at midnight no matter what, the story (finally! Then there was more muddling about because I also...

Maunderings and ramblings of a library assistant, mostly-unpublished writer, occasional anachronist, finder of lost books and roving researcher. Thursday, March 6, 2014. But a nice one. My story "Foretold" that everyone likes but not enough to buy, went off to the latest Tesseracts submission, after which I forgot about it and went back to struggling with Cost of Silver. Today I got this in my email:. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Colleen Anderson, sf writer.

Bartholomew von Klick: Blog Edition. Wherein von Klick rants. Saturday, January 13, 2007. I'm behind a deadline, or you'd have heard from me again. I did have time this week for a few riproaring edits and a couple of games of Go. Aside from that, practicing my woodwinds has been a bit of a priority, seeing as how they're such an awesome way to fill in 3 minutes of free time. Monday, January 8, 2007. Pumped out a new short story. I'm calling it Captain Richelieu's Escape. Over and Out,. Not Two Sisters,.
