The Elzappo Tribune: August 2005

The personally-syndicated papers of elzap. Sunday, August 28, 2005. The home room and the principal and other short stories. During the period of my school experience, the school i was in adopted a home room system. i remembered kenneth saying that it was good although he stopped short of elaborating what benefits the system brings to a particular school. You can throw that lesson plan out the window. I was wondering why nobody voiced out against it. i thought it was pretty weird that everyone was qu...

The Random Ramblings of a Geography Nut...: August 2005

The Random Ramblings of a Geography Nut. This blog is created for the two main purposes of furthering geographical knowledge and pedagogy. But of course, having fun while writing is also another important concern of this geognut. I do admit that this is a convenient outlet to bitch and rant too.By the way, much appreciation to Ed for helping me with this blog's title! Sunday, August 28, 2005. Evil looks.Beautiful Gem. Did a recce for my geography fieldwork lesson plan today. First stop, Jurong Hill. Maybe...

The Elzappo Tribune: September 2005

The personally-syndicated papers of elzap. Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Ed psych part deux. Today's ed psych class was pretty interesting. we were to pick a level/stream with which we were to come up with rules and routines, and their relevant ways of being implemented. The issue here is how to implement rules in the NT stream classes. if the rule is for them to sit their asses down during lessons, how do we implement this? I don't know whether we should be dishing out punishments too often. consider...

Friday, August 26, 2005. Just some notes on Miss L's. Powerpoint, video clip and related worksheet, writes keywords on whiteboard and mindmapping. I think she tried the constructivist method by trying to pique our prior knowledge of what earthquakes were and put it simply through her nephew's conception of earthquakes. Something about the earth shaking. As we are dealing with the younger kids, it is a good idea to keep it simple. And how do we address it properly? Whohad started the commotion. And do we ...

Sunday, October 30, 2005. Seems that it was only yesterday that I created a blog. Now, everyone has a blog. My lit class has caught on to the blogging craze. Best of all, some of them have been reading our blogs by way of some NIE geog link all this while! How fascinating. I guess we are not the first to write entries about our microteachings in our blogs, even the historians are doing it way before we even got started. Posted by Janinah @ 11:34 PM. QeogBlog: October 2005
http://qeogblog.blogspot.com/2005_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 05, 2005. A vision of Apocalypse? Or a Baptism of Fire? Whichever way one chooses to look at it, my microteaching session was not a walk in the park. But I think I’m finally ready to face the trauma and blog about it without being committed to a Home in Buangkok for a severe nervous breakdown! I’m not exactly sure how best to structure this, so I’m just gonna go by broad headings. Dealing with Students with Color Deficiency. Actually I did consider the fact that the colors may not repr...

Thursday, September 08, 2005. Mighty Mas and Flying Swallow. I can take a breather at last! Ed psych presentation and EL Integration Task are finally over. I shall utilise the night for recovery, however undeserving I may be. But really, that's just a productive way of saying, "I ain't no doing nothing tonite! 2 more micro-teaching sessions today, so here goes. In addition, I thought the presentation could've been better timed. The pic whizzed a tad too fast. I remember at one stage, a poem was p...Furth...

The Exploration of Past, Present, Future: September 2005

The Exploration of Past, Present, Future. Thursday, September 22, 2005. Wow, it's been such a long time since I last blogged that I forgot my password to log in! It's in the periphery of my mind. Remember it! I told myself. After several failed attempts to get my password and a few choice words at my PC, I realised that it's because my firewall blocked out the cookies. Slap in face. Soft spot, Ken? But it does bring up an interesting issue - knowing MOE's protective stance towards students (and their Pub...
