Craig's Challenging Year

Thursday, 1 March 2012. Day 278 (24 February 2012) - Must be the reason. Why I'm King of my Castle'. What a tune eh? Another of those songs that nobody has the foggiest what the next line is, but they certainly don't make 'em like that any more. Yes, I'm still alive and still posting, although if there was anyone who still remotely gave a damn, you could be forgiven for popping elsewhere for your regular blog-fix. However, I have very good reasons for having been away so long. Well, you're more than welc...

Craig's Challenging Year: May 2011

http://craigschallengingyear.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 26 May 2011. Day 11 (26 May 2011) - 'You had a bad day.'. And what a corker of a day it was. Today's challenge, set by 'im upstairs (and I don't mean Rod Hull) was simply to make it through the day. Things that happened to me today included:. Slipping on a wet platform, crashing to the ground and bruising my satsumas (and no, that isn't a euphamism). Sitting through a two hour exam masterclass where every tip given contradicted what I actually did in my CIM exam. Getting abused by a bus driver.

Craig's Challenging Year: September 2011

http://craigschallengingyear.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Monday, 26 September 2011. Day 117 (16 September 2011) - Would you like to fly. In my beautiful, my beautiful balloon? Ah, that song takes me back to being a wee lad. Sunday mornings would be filled with the smell of my Mum's roast dinner and the sound of her music. She had (I think still has) drawers of cassettes - hundreds of 'em - yet the same three would get played most Sundays:. 3 Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits - from which the song quoted in the subject line of this post is taken. Good ol' Frank...

Craig's Challenging Year: August 2011

http://craigschallengingyear.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 29 August 2011. Day 107 (28th August 2011) - Oh it's a Ladies Night. And nothing says 'Ladies Night' more than a Hen Night. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present Challenge 24 - 'Attend Sophie's Hen Night'. Rather worryingly nobody batted an eyelid during my journey to Clapham Junction. This became doubly insulting when I realised I'd done the whole journey with my flies open. Clearly it takes a lot to impress Londoners nowadays! Of course, when I arrived, nobody else was in fancy dress! The Reflex was ...

Craig's Challenging Year: Day 223 (31 December 2011) - If you're with me...

http://craigschallengingyear.blogspot.com/2011/12/day-231-31-december-2011-if-youre-with.html

Saturday, 31 December 2011. Day 223 (31 December 2011) - If you're with me. Next year will be the perfect year'. Whatever happened to Dina Carroll? A fellow Cantrabrigian, I can still remember seeing her having driving lessons around Cambridge. There was always an added air of excitement in Sainsbury's, where I worked, when she popped in for a Glade Plug-In and a Wagon Wheel! I think she was last heard of suffering from terrible stage fright? Yet, for once, I'm excited and optimistic about this New Year&...

Craig's Challenging Year: January 2012

http://craigschallengingyear.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 18 January 2012. Day 241 (18 January 2012) - Our time is running out. Or at least mine is. Can it really be 241 days since I embarked upon this 'Challenging Year'? I believe the technical term for this might be 'a frame story' - rumours that Madonna adopted this technique for her W.E. film having read this blog are, as yet, unsubstantiated (however, if anyone actually goes to see this film and spots an semblance of a conga, do let me know and I'll sue the witch). 5 Take part in the Clipper Rou...

Craig's Blog

Craig is Pastor at St Mark's Anglican Church Pennant Hills and sometimes he likes to think out loud. Friday, October 5, 2012. You might want to read this. Article from Sean Doherty or this. Interview with Vaughan Roberts. Saturday, October 15, 2011. Don Quixote rides again. I'm on an apparently Quixotic quest to suggest this was a bad idea in the comments at the SydAng website here. I think it is important that we really think hard about this stuff and where we get the most bang for our buck in terms of ...

OUT OF THE BOX!

OUT OF THE BOX! Welcome to Craig Schaller's online column. It's almost time for the 2nd of the best two weekends of the year. Yes, as any serious NFL fan will tell you, Wild Card weekend and then Conference semi-final weekend take the cake as the best back-to-back sports weekends in any calendar year. Why is this? Well, of course it means two playoff football games each day, back to back. It means seven hours of excitement with everyone's favorite sport- pro football! I had been doing this same Survivor ...

How was your day?

How was your day? Thursday, June 24, 2010. Today the long-awaited Property Based Improvement District passed. The votes, weighted by how much assessment each owner would contribute, won by a 2 to 1 margin. The City Council followed with a 6-0 vote (Perea absent) to form the district. The PBID effort represents two attributes that successful cities possess: perseverance and momentum. The City Council voted for the funding to create a PBID, the former mayor vetoed the funding. The City Council reversed...
