My adventures in exploring how to make and use all things fiber: quilting, spinning, knitting and weaving with the occasional outdoor adventure thrown in as well. Tuesday, June 18, 2013. I just realized that it has been over 2 months since I posted last. Not intended, but I have been busy and not inclined to write. I have been taking an assortment of courses in quilting and in knitting on Craftsy. They are available forever and you can ask questions. Fabric paint is formulated to bond to fabric threads.

Make your own Skyr. Last year we went to Iceland. We love cheese and yogurt and so fell in love with skyr, which is sort of like yogurt but also like cheese. Since I make yogurt and cream cheese, I figured I should be able to make skyr. After cruising through some recipes, I gave it a shot. 1 cup powdered milk. 3 T of it.

Fiber Fun: December 2012
http://quiltingclimber.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
My adventures in exploring how to make and use all things fiber: quilting, spinning, knitting and weaving with the occasional outdoor adventure thrown in as well. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Recently I was made aware of a blog that showed how to make a folded fabric star. This reminded me of the paper stars I used to fold. It has been SO long since I made one, I had to go back to my favorite craft book, which I received as a child, Wir Spielen und Basteln. Each step has the same numbered picture with it.

Spinning DIY: Bobbin Winder. After you spin your singles, they are usually plied into the final yarn. Many advise putting about 10 feet between the kate your bobbins are sitting on and your spindle or wheel so that the twist in the singles can even out and create a more consistent yarn. That’s what I do. I prefer to ...

QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT: Let's just ignore that awkward silence in between posts, shall we?
http://brookquilt.blogspot.com/2013/03/let-just-ignore-that-awkward-silence-in.html
QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT. Sunday, March 17, 2013. Lets just ignore that awkward silence in between posts, shall we? Oh good grief. I stink at blogging. But I was so excited to be a part of the Pantone Color of the Year: Emerald challenge .that I returned to my blog. Here's my "topper category" entry. Lets just say that I'm an obsessive type of person, and despite extreme effort.I just couldn't make it to the quilting stage on this one. I'm ok with that as I am still able to enter it. Although, I am...

QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT: So this one tiny thing made me do it....
http://brookquilt.blogspot.com/2013/04/so-this-one-tiny-thing-made-me-do-it.html
QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT. Thursday, April 11, 2013. So this one tiny thing made me do it. A very dear set of friends gave me this little pin. But don't be fooled. This pin has huge powers. It made me cut up perfectly luscious Kona cotton. Then it made me sew it all back together again. All the pins I'd collected over the years were crowding a very small wallhanging. So when The Queen and The Princess in Training gave me that sweet pin.I knew I had to make it a special home. Clever idea, Shelley!

QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT: Baby steps, people....
http://brookquilt.blogspot.com/2014/08/baby-steps-people.html
QUILTING AT THE SPEED OF NIGHT. Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Baby steps, people. Day two. Still here. Attempting to break a record by blogging more than two or three times a year. Remember last night when I shared the touching story of when we moved and my stash was "outed". Here's my "WALL O'FABRIC" all nicely colorized and somewhat organized. The shelving in my other house held the fabric better but these big metal racks work. I see a quilt inspiration. August 20, 2014 at 8:04 AM. A Quilt is Nice.

A New Sewing Table. A former work colleague and friend named Tom loves woodworking the way I love quilting. He made a beautiful cherry wood quilt rack as my retirement gift. Cherry Wood Quilt Rack. One of the first pieces he built for me is an ironing table made to my specs. It has drawers and shelves for all my supplies.
