Wednesday, August 31, 2005. In Awe of God's Grace (Again! Have you ever wondered about God's mercy in certain circumstances in the Bible? I remember the first time I read the account of Noah and the Ark and saw that the flood was an act of mercy on mankind, a redemption rather than a punishment. It's really cool when your eyes are opened to see God's actions with man and earth that way! Well it happened again this morning. I was reading a book I borrowed from a friend called. Her Name is Woman. But even ...

Wednesday, September 28, 2005. Prayers, Books, and An Attitude Adjustment! It's late on a Wednesday night. And I return to work in the morning. So, I don't have the time or energy for a long post, or an insightful one either, perhaps. But there are a few things which God has placed on my heart to share, despite the hour. First, a plea for prayer for two people. The first is my grandfather. So my heart is heavy for these. By Ted Dekker. Great book! Because it is truly alive with the message of hope and jo...

Saturday, January 28, 2006. It's Official, I'm a Heretic! Well, I've been pondering some stuff lately. And if my friends don't think I'm a heretic already, they will now! But my recent spiritual journey has led me to become extremely frustrated with how Christians use the Bible. Or, based on my experiences, I should probably limit it to Evangelicals, or at least Southern Baptists. But it's become this weapon. This litmus test. So often I hear the phrase - "the word of God". For we are to God the aroma of...

Thursday, December 22, 2005. Say Hello to Baby Jasmine! Posted by Kathryn Young at 11:34 PM. Saturday, December 17, 2005. Well, I've finally been able to sit down long enough to blog again! And I have great news. At 12:16pm, on December 15 (after 2 long days of labor), my best friend, Deborah, gave birth to Jasmine Noelle. She was 7 lbs 8oz! And has dark hair, quite a bit of it! Please pray for her to heal/recover quickly. Deborah is anxious to hold her baby girl in her arms and take her home. Monday, De...

Saturday, June 25, 2005. In Sickness and In Health". Well, today is the first day I've been in a sitting position for longer than 2 minutes, since Thursday afternoon. I don't know what I got, but it was not fun, and it definitely lasted longer than the 24 hours it was supposed to! And I'm still struggling with the remains of some infection or something in my throat. But at least the throwing up is over, I think the fever is finally gone, and I'm not dizzy and weak anymore! Who is fighting a battle with b...

Sunday, July 31, 2005. This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. But then the unthinkable and unexpected happened. While we were dancing and laughing, Shannon, the girl whose house we were at, was at the stove making chocolate fondue. And in the most horrific moment, she went into a seizure that sent her crashing onto her tile kitchen floor. And I'm thankful that three of us stayed the night. And pray for my and several others' dreams. The images from early this morning ar...

Monday, May 30, 2005. A friend of mine from college got married over the weekend. I always love those kind of weddings because they also serve as small reunions! I got a chance to catch up with some girls that I don't get to see often, and probably won't see again (except a couple) until the next one of us gets married. When the Bride of Christ finally meets her Groom! When the fairy tale ending of "happily ever after" that makes chick-flicks enticing, is finally our reality! I intensely love symbolism&#...

Monday, February 20, 2006. Old Sacrifices - New Methods. So I have this devotional book that I'm not good at being consistent with, but picked up after a lengthy hiatus last night. And I came across something interesting to me, and found it thought-provoking and worth bringing here, for others to comment, if you will. (Although I don't think I have a big following - the two or three of you who are faithful friends, please feel free to respond.). The first three are:. The last two are:. So, while Jesus re...
