My Faves | Dad the Geek

https://dadthegeek.wordpress.com/my-faves

Raising my kids, one nerdy step at a time! I wanted to put a list out there of all of my favorite things, especially since reviews are coming down the pike. The Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, The Lost World, State of Fear, basically any Michael Chricton book, the Harry Potter series (favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban), the Hunger Games, Ender’s Game. Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Sofia the First, and My Little Pony. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Tampa...

Sandwiched Between Greatness! AND #SimonSays Update | Dad the Geek

https://dadthegeek.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/sandwiched-between-greatness-and-simonsays-update

Raising my kids, one nerdy step at a time! Not to brag or anything, but those are some pretty important events in the lives of geeks and nerds everywhere! Also in Simon’s world is the event of his Baptism. Now before I talk about it, I just want to say that I usually keep this space religion free. If you check out my about page, you will read that I teach at a Catholic school. Yes we are Catholic in the DadtheGeek house. It works for us. I love getting them. Also, please check out my Facebook. Summer Trip to Downtown Disney PART 1: The People! | Dad the Geek

https://dadthegeek.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/summer-trip-to-downtown-disney-part-1-the-people

Raising my kids, one nerdy step at a time! Summer Trip to Downtown Disney PART 1: The People! One of the big things that we wanted to do this summer was to take a trip to Downtown Disney. For the uninitiated, Downtown Disney is an area of themed Disney shops and restaurants found on Disney property in Orlando, Florida. Claire affectionately calls the place “Minnie’s Mall.”. She memorized the commercial, and afterwards would exclaim “I WANT TO GO THERE! The main thing that I wasn’t prepared for was ...

Summer Trip to Downtown Disney Part 2: The Tech! | Dad the Geek

https://dadthegeek.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/summer-trip-to-downtown-disney-part-2-the-tech

Raising my kids, one nerdy step at a time! Summer Trip to Downtown Disney Part 2: The Tech! So in Part 1. I talked about how we went to Downtown Disney and our plans didn’t turn out the way that we thought. But as a geek one of the coolest things about Disney is all of the tech that is used in their attractions. Notice all the green lights hanging above the empty spaces. 8221; Yes they are, but not like this one! That is me on the right holding up the phone to take the picture. You Know You're a Geek Dad.

My Crazy Quilt Life: July 2014

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 27, 2014. It has been a long time since I have done a "fresh cuts" post. So, that is what you get today, short and sweet. You remember the sign on the side of the basket. And, here is the star for this one - Louis Philippe roses in the old hob nail vase. When the roses started dropping petals it got moved to this spot in the living room. I enjoy this stage just as much as the first one. Seems like the little bird does too. I hope you are having a happy, pleasant Sunday! Links to this post.

My Crazy Quilt Life: January 2015

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Continuing on with my after Christmas winter look. Unlike the living room desk shelves and the last thing I showed, part of the dining room, the white style does not include the kitchen. It is a little more colorful. When using so many small items in a small room like this one, in order to develop conformity, the whole room needs to be treated as a composition with things having a connection. I just left them in place until they were tall and running out of room. The white hy...

My Crazy Quilt Life: December 2014

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, December 31, 2014. All Through the House #3. This number three of Christmas all through the house starts in my bedroom. It was a dark, rainy day for picture taking but, the rooms are dark on a sunny day and it really makes little difference. I kind of like what looks like a sepia tone for these, although I lightened every picture. Wish they could be sharper. I have a Christmas wreath on the wall and added red pillows to the bed but those pictures are just not good enough to show. In my little ...

My Crazy Quilt Life: November 2014

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Wordless Wednesday - Raindrops. This is not a day that I would expect many people to have time to browse blogs but decided to sneak in a post, hoping it might be seen by a few before I start showing Christmas things next week. After getting inches and inches of rain yesterday, I waded out this morning to get a look at the water logged yard and took a few pictures. The pictures will do the talking. PEGGY MARTIN ROSE HIPS. BACK YARD UNDER WATER. Links to this post. I love how ...

My Crazy Quilt Life: March 2014

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Down My Garden Path. I thought you might like to take a little walk down one of my garden paths. . There are several neat things to see along this short stone path . One thing is the wash of stones, shells and sea things. A lot of this had sunk into the sand and most of the rest was covered with leaves until last week when I spent some time cleaning it up. The assorted sea-glass shapes are once again visible. A few steps on down the path, this has become a common sight. I hope ...

My Crazy Quilt Life: October 2014

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 18, 2014. Things Are Busy in the Garden. The swallowtails have been plentiful. And, signs of more to come. I apologize to my Facebook friends because they have seen some of these pictures. During the season when the shadows seem darker and the shade deeper, there are things that seem even brighter and they light up the days. I couldn't decide which picture I liked the most, this or the above one, so I am using both. The butterflies aren't the only things adding brightness. Our fall and ...

My Crazy Quilt Life: April 2015

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The New Gnome Village. Yes, the gnomes picked up and moved across the flagstone walk and down the incline near an old dead tree stump. I think they like their new place. I know I like how they are situation much better than their old village. It seems like a natural place for a community of gnomes. Woody (from Dolly Wood) seems to be fine with the new location. That's important because he is king of the gnomes and my favorite! A close-up of King Woody. These three hang out inside...

My Crazy Quilt Life: September 2014

Sunday, September 28, 2014. 2014 September Girls Celebration. For many years five friends have gathered on a day in September to celebrate all our September birthdays. Several times we have gone out to breakfast or lunch and many other times we have met at our friend Lynda's house. That is where we gathered this year. First I'm showing the assembling of my little gifts for the girls. There is always something to be thankful for. All bagged up and ready to go. Me arriving at Lynda's beautiful house. Here ...

My Crazy Quilt Life: February 2015

http://bsneeringer.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 14, 2015. A Bundle of Things - Unrelated to Each Other. If you have been following you know I like to pretty much keep to one subject in each post. Just a "show and tell" of my interests. Usually either inside from one room or all from outside. This time it is a mixture from all around, partly tying up some loose ends. Maybe there will be something for everyone. I think I showed these turnips when I first noticed they were sprouting. I decided to keep them here and see what happens...

Sunday, November 16, 2008. Vegan, it's not meh. Just so there are no mistakes regarding the title of this post. I'm a carnivore. I don't simply like meat - I love it. If there was a cow in here right now I'd bite a hunk out of it's ass and make a sandwich. Ok, now that we got that straight. Great, so now I'm thinking about all the shapes you can form soy into. I was imagining the menu would be:. Cold Soy topped with spinach and fig leaves. Warm Soy with bean curd dressing. Soy with lawn clippings. Saturd...

Bring on the Food! Dad’s Fav’s! Carrot, Orange & Cucumber juice. AB’s Jerky (with a twist). TIP: Crumpled Aluminum Foil. Who amongst us isn't familiar with this. you go to cook something in the toaster oven, so you rip off a sheet of aluminum foil, place on the baking sheet thinking that this will make cleanup WAY easier. Happy with your time saving decision, you go about your merry way until it's time to either flip the food or remove it from the sheet altogether. Then what happens?
