Dance Filled Journey: thanksgiving
http://dancefilledjourney.blogspot.com/2008/11/thanksgiving.html
Tuesday, November 25, 2008. I wrote the entry below in the airport last year as I flew home for Thanksgiving. I never posted it. In many ways it still seems appropriate…. At our school we talk extensively about the impact of the incarnation on the therapeutic relationship. How does the reality that Christ became flesh impact who we are as Christians, and at Mars Hill, as students studying counseling? We are the body of Christ. So, what does that mean for who I am? H Pierre Schlomo Presley. Men often hate...

Dance Filled Journey: 30
http://dancefilledjourney.blogspot.com/2008/11/30.html
Friday, November 14, 2008. But, the part of the night that really got me was the few minutes toward the end of the night when I discovered my friends had gone in together on a group birthday gift. They got me an ipod! Let me repeat that, they got me an ipod! 8221; and then several other friends yelled, “yeahhhh, f* the Spaniards! I love that I will now have a tangible reminder of that moment. life in slow motion: October 2008
http://mihyderspot.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Sunday, October 26, 2008. Hello Mac, My Name is Michael. So last week I went on a date. With my roommates Mac. It was all part of the process of seeing. Whether I should make the switch. You know. PC to Mac. As you can see from the pictures, it wasn't even a contest. Look how engaged we were! Two days later, my own is on its way in the mail. Haven't been this excited in a looooong time. Monday, October 20, 2008.

Dance Filled Journey: picky, picky
http://dancefilledjourney.blogspot.com/2008/11/picky-picky.html
Friday, November 21, 2008. I used to be a really picky eater. And by some people’s standards I still am. But, in my book you have to consider how faaaaar someone has come before you conclude someone is picky. To this day, that story gets told and retold about my picky eating habits. Go to Taco Bells (as Anna called it). Purchase an order of nacho chips and cheese. Bring home and let Anna eat all of the cheese. Fall Children Macaroni and Cheese. 1 box Kraft macaroni and cheese. I agree - it's not how pick...

life in slow motion: Random, Mundane Experience #2: Safeway Bagger
http://mihyderspot.blogspot.com/2009/06/random-mundane-experience-2-safeway.html
Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Random, Mundane Experience #2: Safeway Bagger. There has been a change in me as of late, however slight it may be, to really enjoy these exchanges. Not every one, as most of them are still quite lame, more than uneventful, and that's fine. But I have grown increasingly grateful for the moments when these simple exchanges and these random people have had the capacity to make my day. The ant...

life in slow motion: November 2008
http://mihyderspot.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Anne Lamont, Bird by Bird. How often my work so far has been to kindly interject, and ask for us to slowly step into just one piece of what was just ejected my way. How can I move us into our senses? What if we said the same eight words over and over? Monday, November 10, 2008. Some flakes were now falling around my feet. A few melted as they hit the ground. Others stayed intact&...And t...

life in slow motion: Flash
http://mihyderspot.blogspot.com/2009/06/flash.html
Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Friday, June 26, 2009. Wanted to share my last piece of work from my last class at Mars Hill, called Selected Readings, a class where the professor is given freedom to teach in areas of their own special interest. The last day entailed each of us giving a 10 minute creative presentation on our experience of it. The writing ends with hope in the reminder to never forget how to feel, especially cry. Both the cynic an...

life in slow motion: April 2009

Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Friday, April 24, 2009. A look at prayer. It is not a surprise to me that the dynamics of my everyday life come into play in my attempts at prayer and meditation. When I begin to enter this space of prayer, there is an anticipation in me, a desire that is also very closely linked to a demand to have intimacy. Desire can easily be confused with control. Why aren't you meeting me in this time? A mindfulness podcast s...

Dance Filled Journey: September 2007
http://dancefilledjourney.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 29, 2007. Last weekend we had the first party of the year at our house to celebrate Michael's birthday. It was quite a party! There's nothing like living with a musician and a few boys to assist with some good dance party playlists. Unfortunately, our neighbors weren't big fans of our music, so the doors and windows had to be closed, the volume turned down, and the ensuing sauna effect embraced. Here a few photos from the fun. Wednesday, September 19, 2007. It'd been there all the time.

life in slow motion: Yo Mama's Cleats
http://mihyderspot.blogspot.com/2009/08/yo-mamas-cleats.html
Life in slow motion. Bringing the past into the present, with the hope of what is to come. Thursday, August 13, 2009. Despite a tumultuous attempt to round up the troops, it looks like the birth of a fall soccer team has just begun. Getting at least 15 people to commit and pay lots of money to play soccer is a feat only those who live for this stuff should undertake (thank you craigslist). Oh my God, that’s amazing!
