12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. Thursday, December 09, 2010. December 6, 2010: Pomegranate Tofu. We had some vegie box asparagus and lettuce to use up and a whole pile of spanakopita. Leftovers keeping us lunched up for the week, so we decided to make a big serve of this green salad. To accompany it, Cindy suggested we whip up a quick batch of K and Toby's pomegranate tofu. Adapted from In the Mood for Noodles. Who adapted it from Cooking Books. 500g tofu, sliced into 10cm by 5cm rectangles. MmmI cannot make good...

where's the beef? Vegetarians in Melbourne: Rice pudding
http://herestheveg.blogspot.com/2014/08/rice-pudding.html
12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. Thursday, August 07, 2014. July 20, 2014. Thanks to houseguests and vege boxes, we've recently been inundated with kiwi fruits. I've never really developed a taste for their tartness, so I got to thinking about desserts I might be able to hide them in. Some went into an ugly yet edible vegan bastardisation of this financier recipe. But that only took down two. Cashew cream and frothy gelato. Came to mind, but I really wanted something warm and winter-friendly. 3/4 cup coconut sugar.

where's the beef? Vegetarians in Melbourne: 12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE
http://herestheveg.blogspot.com/p/12-hours-in-north-melbourne.html
12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. 12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. We've been calling Melbourne's inner north home for upwards of eight years now! In that time we've discovered some awesome places to eat, some cool things to do, and developed a lot of affection for the neighbourhood. Brunswick, Carlton, Fitzroy and Collingwood are relatively flat and when the weather's good they're well suited to cycling. (Trams, the occasional bus and a waterproof hoodie each serve us well enough at other times.). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

where's the beef? Vegetarians in Melbourne: September 12-13, 2010: Salted butter caramel icecream
http://herestheveg.blogspot.com/2010/09/september-12-13-2010-salted-butter.html
12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. Friday, September 24, 2010. September 12-13, 2010: Salted butter caramel icecream. Won the day; it's been blogged and raved about dozens of times and I'd read about it on Jumbo Empanadas. And It Pleases Us. Not only did it fit the above bill but it gave me an excuse to buy some fancy fleur de sel from Gerwurzhaus. Patient help from Michael] still cursing. And after churning and freezing as directed, it did not look as luscious as my other. We were almost bereft when it was finished.

where's the beef? Vegetarians in Melbourne: Gochujang fried cauliflower
http://herestheveg.blogspot.com/2015/08/gochujang-fried-cauliflower.html
12 HOURS IN MELBOURNE. Thursday, August 06, 2015. August 1, 2015. It's been too long since I last did some extended, just-for-fun weekend cooking! The half a huge head of cauliflower delivered in our recent vege box inspired me to try one of J. Kenji López-Alt's battered-and-fried cauliflower recipes, which he published more than two years ago on Serious Eats. The key point of interest and flavour in this recipe is really the gochujang. Slightly adapted from a recipe at Serious Eats. 1/2 cup plain flour.

We made a pretence at being healthy by having this salad. On the side, but it was really all about the wedges. Recipe from Ottolenghi's Plenty. In the mea...
