When a Friendship Burns. March 1, 2017. March 1, 2017. After high school, I moved in with the person I considered to be my best friend. She and I had the same blue corduroys, pixie haircuts, and infatuation with Brandon Boyd from Incubus. Oh, the dreams we have when we’re young and stupid. I’ve learned over time that one person cannot be the sole communicator in a friendship. Without taking turns listening and talking, without being there emotionally, there isn’t much left to hold it together. A friendsh...
Mustard Seed – Danielle Dayney

January 3, 2017. January 3, 2017. I found mustard seed today, and remembered to let faith soar. If it can be found there in seeds, then it can be found in war. Photo courtesy of Pixabay. Shayla’s Choice – Danielle Dayney

January 11, 2017. January 12, 2017. I’ll drop you here, Chris says, parking his blue pick-up next to a meter, three buildings down from the clinic. Downtown has few skyscrapers. Instead, most streets look like this one, with rows of older two-story brick buildings, iron fire escapes hitched sideways against the windows. As a child, Shayla imagined running down them as they lowered to the ground. Okay, she whispers, but I’m scared. She grips her stomach and turns in the direction of the old warehouse....

cancer – Danielle Dayney
https://danielledayney.com/tag/cancer
January 10, 2017. January 13, 2017. Everything about that word makes the bile in my belly rise and the hair follicles on my arms pucker in fear. Saying or even thinking the word gives me shivers. The difference between the hard and soft ‘c’ sounds make the word sound like a scaly boa constrictor slithering its way around my chest. I’m suffocating from it. Complications from cancer have killed strangers, acquaintances, friends, friends of friends, parents of friends, grandparents of friends, and family.

Seeing a new… – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2016/12/30/seeing-a-new
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. Seeing a new…. December 30, 2016. January 23, 2017. The rag-tag line-up of caravans are out of sight now, as are the stones. All that’s left are the birds – dozens or maybe hundreds of them. I marvel that they are always here no matter time of day or year. It begs the questions, Why? Until then. Until tomorrow. 2 thoughts on “ Seeing a new…. And its context is suddenly under threat. Liked by 1 person. January 23, 2017 at 3:07 pm. Liked by 1 person.

October 2016 – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2016/10
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. A semi-moderate ramble…. October 17, 2016. I’ve a question. How far do we have to go before we’ve gone too far? I know, ‘be a bit more specific’. Okay, so here’s my current conundrum. And, before I carry on, do not for a second think I’m taking this lightheartedly. On the contrary, I’m stumped and have all kinds of feelings playing tag with me over it. So, that latter comment about being ‘pro’ is where I’m stuck. Would one call me a moderate? For me,...

Zigzagging Toward Zen – Page 2 – It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip.
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/page/2
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. I’ll look back to my future…. March 1, 2017. When I woke up this morning I realised the sky was bright. My phone told me it was 6:25. I felt all bubbly. It’s no surprise I’m inspired by the longer days. Today I was curious, though, asking no one in particular, is the sun actually up? How long is dawn? I turned to Google for some answers learning that the preshow can last up to 79 minutes from the first hint of light. I did not know that! I’ll not nec...

By the sea… – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2017/01/03/by-the-sea
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. By the sea…. January 3, 2017. The mother reminded me of my Western daughter. Their colouring, some mannerisms and height, similar. For a second I wondered if someday I might be watching her daughter, my granddaughter, searching for sea glass and fossils like this little boy was doing. It was a precious thought. I decided to hold it, keep it safe. Touch them. Reach out and touch all those stars right there in front of you. Can you feel the joy? Enter ...

November 2016 – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2016/11
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. A best effort…. November 24, 2016. Seriously. My book sits alone and untouched (much like me) and I’ve a pile (on my desktop) of half-stories waiting for The End . The worst of it all is that I’m not 30 or even 40 anymore. I’m not even 50 and cannot afford to putter around and waste my precious time. Damn it. See, my ego is losing its grip. If our hearts are any example, and I think they are, no. Instead, we are probably meant to respectfully wal...

Running is okay… – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2016/12/08/running-is-okay
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. Running is okay…. December 8, 2016. In the movie Runaway Bride , the heroine was an escape artist of sorts. She was moderately successful and accomplished, surrounded by the warmth of protective friends, and because Julia Roberts was the star, she was also, beautiful. As the story goes, Maggie could step up and into almost any role until it came to what was, for her, a real commitment. Why couldn’t she finish what she started? Oh my friend, I think w...

Finding peace… – Zigzagging Toward Zen
https://francessullivaniam.wordpress.com/2016/12/13/finding-peace
It's not about arriving… it's about enjoying the trip. December 13, 2016. December 13, 2016. Today was one of those days. I slipped hard, lost my grip. Of course I sort of knew it was coming on, but I also hoped it would pass. Mostly things come in waves, yes? Ripples to tsunamis. I think that’s true for the majority of us sentient types. I’m not really that different from everybody else, am I? Meaning how could I have done whatever it is I’m remembering. Tears can help release some of the vice-like grip...

Final Blog Post Binge Watching. May 10, 2015. As aforementioned, binge watching has its pros and cons. I personally love binge watching and I do it a lot, however there are certain things I try to pace myself with or that I enjoy watching as they air. Binge watching is not suitable for every type of media, so it’s important to realize how it can negatively affect certain types of shows. Satire shows, like. Saturday Night Live,. However, it’s a little different. Although. Marathons, I think watching them ...
