Coban: The place of clouds. Finca El Volcan falls within the Rainforest Coban coffee region, where the cup characteristics are described as medium body with light acidity and fruit-like flavours. The aroma is fragrant and has light wine notes. Coming from the Maya Q'eqchi' word "cob" or place of clouds, Coban, they say, has rain 13 months of the year. In reality, it is the fine mist called chipichipi that gives the area its reputation. Download our Estate Coffee fact sheet. This site is valid HTML and CSS.

Exploring the cultural traditions. Due to its remote location, and the fact that most of the families living here have never left the area, El Volcan is as rich today in culture and tradition as it has ever been. The farm was formerly home to some 1400 Q'eqchi' people who were granted ownership of land for housing and cultivation. Two new villages were created in the process – Sillab and Bennima – and the land transfers legalised under the restructuring of the business. For details on (502) 4079 2591 and.
